Kameo: Elements of Power (Xbox 360) In a nutshell: Playing as shape-shifter Kameo, your special skill is that once you’ve vanquished an enemy you can assume their form and use their special attacks at any time. This offers an ever-increasing arsenal of wittily designed beasts with which to complete your quest, as well as expanding varieties of combo to take on the tougher bosses.
The lowdown: Expansive action adventure with a pleasantly Zelda-esque feel about it, which features the usual set of neat little touches from developer Rare, as well as their trademark easy-to-use control interface. Despite the gradually upgradeable complexities of your various shapes’ attack and defence mechanisms this promises to be a joy to control throughout.
Most exciting moment: Switching forms in the heat of battle makes for some hilarious and very effective combinations of various creatures’ skills. They also look fabulous in a comedy-monster sort of way.
Since you ask: Originally slated to appear on the venerable Nintendo 64, Kameo’s development allegedly shifted first to Game Cube, then to Xbox and is finally seeing the light of day on Xbox 360. The path to gaming love never did run smooth.
The bottom line: Amongst Xbox 360’s raft of shooting and driving launch titles, this is a breath of sweet, fresh air. Nick Gillett

List Price: ?44.99 Amazon Price: ?37.98 Used Price: ?9.99 Customer Review: Wow - seeing IS believing Well, there are so many things that I can say about this game, the levels are amazing, the graphics beautiful, the sound is epic, the imagination and creation of the elemental sprites is mindblowing; generally some amazing creatures to play and to play against. I can’t recommend this game enough, but I hope that I (in your eyes) have tried. Get this game and you WILL NOT be dissapointed, I am on the last level at the moment and total game time elapsed (so far) is 32 hours. Even the control system is designed very well (not like Kong). Customer Review: Four and a half stars really I am really enjoying this game. I found it a bit tricky at first as I couldn’t remember which character was assigned to which button, but once I got past the first stage and into the game proper when you start searching for bits and pieces and can start on different tasks in different areas I was fine. The graphics are delightful and ooze quality and the camera controls some of the best I have seen in a game. I like how it saves alot automatically and that it saves every time you assign a character to a button. I think it is a clever game as it makes the player think about which character they need to assign to do certain tasks as different ones have different skills and some cannot defeat some enemies. There are a variety of different things to look out for and all sorts of items will get you all sorts of things. Look for pictures, signs, chests, plants and characters to gain items as well as buying them from shops. The graphics are the usual deep rich ones Rare are known for and I think anyone of any age group will find they have a really good game if they buy this one. I think this game is yet another one, though, that most gamers will leave on the shelf because it has cartoon style graphics. Sheer lunacy, that is. They miss some absolute pearls of games, like this one.

The graphics are no better than sonic adventure on the sega dreamcast, the camera is frustrating and the gameplay is very linear. Customer Review: Very good game, but a few annoying things I bought this game and was expecting awesome flowing gameplay, improved graphics and an easier way of playing from sonic adventure 2. The graphics i feel are superb for a game like this, i mean you cant make a game like this look too real otherwise it would get rid of the cartoon element of it. The gameplay overall is good, but the characters can become difficult to control at times due to the cameras movement, yes they can be rectified by the trigger buttons but they dont always help. Loading screens will annoy a lot of people on this game but you can get used to them, and the game does flow when they are not around. The levels on this game are cool, and remind me a lot of the 1st title on the dreamcast, sonic adventure, which was a great sonic game, probably the best 3d game. Sonic the hedgehog does live up to a lot of expectations for me, and i hate it when people slate a game for a few poor reasons, i would definitely recommend this title to anybody.
Sega Rally (Xbox 360) List Price: ?49.99 Amazon Price: ?24.97 Used Price: ?18.99 Customer Review: The one to beat Colin McRae? I don’t think so! There are some people who fondly remember the original Sega Rally, I was one of them. That is, until Codemasters came out with the Colin McRae Rally series, and I haven’t looked back - until now. I used to play the original (on the Saturn, firstly) and thought it was so realistic, but when I got hold of the first CMR, I realised how wrong I was! To illustrate this point, I went back to play the original Sega Rally and CMR a couple of days ago. And, Sega Rally just doesn’t compare. But, this is a new Sega Rally, and therefore all-singing and all-dancing, right? Wrong. Yes, it is very pretty; this is something Sega always get right. But, you get the same feeling as before with the previous Sega Rally(s) that you’re actually driving a floating box - it just doesn’t feel like a car. Sega fanboys call this type of handling “unique” - everybody else would call it “shopping trolley”. But, fair’s fair, if you get on with it, then that’s fine - a lot of people don’t; it’s just not very realistic. If that were it then I’d say this was a slightly above-average game (after all, there’s not many off-road racers for the 360). However, there’s one frustratingly unforgiveable flaw with it concerning game modes. The main “Career” (or whatever you they call it) part of the game has you taking part in 3 successive races on 3 different surfaces (the obligatory tarmac, gravel, and sandy-type stuff, etc). But, you can only choose one tyre type with which to undertake these races. Frustration soon sets in once you realise that you can only ever race 1 of the 3 races in the series properly - somewhat bizarre, to say the least. All in all, despite it being one of the few 360 offroaders out there at present, I would still say avoid. If you’re looking for similar, a far better choice is Colin McRae DIRT. If you’ve already got that, then save your money! Without the stupid race selection it would have been 3 out of 5 (and I’m being generous), but sadly, as with so many Sega games in recent years, it looks very pretty, but just doesn’t cut it. Rather sad, really, I’d love to see Sega do better. Customer Review: Very good fun!! Think of Sega Rally as Ridge racer in mud and you get the idea. It’s track racing ala PGR, Forza etc, but in rally environments. There is track deformation which adds a dimension to the game. 30 odd cars to collect with a few liveries for each. 12 or so courses + reverse versions. It’s a fun blast in the mud. Don’t expect it to keep you occupied for hours every night for weeks. This is not a deep game with masses of cars and tracks like PGR, but it is good fun, and pretty challenging on the harder levels too. I would recommend it, though it probably won’t be long before you can pick it up cheap in the trade in section, as it’s fairly simplistic and certain types of gamer will play this for a week then trade it in. If you are one of those types, it’s probably better to rent it. This is all based on the retail version of the game, not the demo.

Skate (Xbox 360)Customer Review: Underwhelming and Counterintuitive Everything about this game just feels a bit wrong. I bought it yesterday and am trading it in for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground tomorrow. The way in which you have to press a button to push for speed takes so long that by the time you get to where you want to do the trick you are not going fast enough so you have to scramble to get your thumb to the ‘flickit’ control and because it is so counter-intuitive and difficult to use you fall every time and if you miss on a run to an object you have to do a massive wheel to turn around, or a powerslide which makes you lose all your momentum meaning you have to build up speed again, causing the same problem. The camera angle is horrendous pointing from some point behind your knees so you can’t see where you are going. For any fans of THPS who thought about buying this instead of Proving Ground as an alternative, don’t it’s not worth the money.
