Customer Review: Underated due to it being a RTWC game
Now initaly i laughed at this game. I completed it on amatuer with ease, qualified for the world cup, and that was it! Game over! I still had fun, but dismissed it………… Then the guys came round! This has quickly become the most played multiplayer game at mine when people are round! On 1 player it can be hard work lining up some nice passes for a crack on goal, but with an actual person running down the wing, moving into space, it opens up so much more! And obviously once people have got a feel for it you progress from amateur which brings me to another good point, World Class isnt the top here! You have the option of a ‘Perfect’ setting which is where the great competition and the closely fought, edge of the seat, games are played! Personaly I love the defence on this game. It is just so solid! these defenders are like a solid wall you have to either work your way down a wing for a cross or pull off some nice passing play that will use up every ounce of concentration you have! Now there are some bad points too, like the age old problem of the change player button being the same as pass, so you give the ball away when you wernt expecting to recieve it. And the shooting is very unique, No real charging here, just a quick press if your in front of goal, or an even quicker one of your outside the box! But these aside, I have been getting dissapointed with the fifa games, ever since the amazing Fifa 2003 to current day, so this was a lovely suprise that has revitalised the fifa franchise for me!
Customer Review: A game that leaves a sour taste in an unsatisfied player
This installment of Fifa 06 is fundamentally flawed. The feeling for me is that they’ve taken on board the discussions that its nemesis, the Pro Evolution Soccer series, has faster gameplay, and subsequently just speeded up the animations on the players. The problems actually lie elsewhere: too many attacks are broken down by your own team-mates’ inabilities to make intelligent runs (even when you direct them to do so); the opposition AI accounts for the fact you’ll eventually work out how to build up regular attacks by frequently scoring on their breaks; and hitting the back of the net relies primarily on chance more than any kind of advanced skill. Additionally, a slide tackle is too risky of a booking or sending off, causing most off ball play to involve holding down the standing tackle and hoping your players are stronger and faster than the opposition. It does have some crowning achievements. The goalkeeping AI is, if a little underconfident, pretty sensible and realistic. It is often the case that your goalie will keep you in a game by pulling off a reasonable save, which trumps rivals’ efforts. The animations and attention to detail on some of the players’ faces are extremely commendable, and it is obvious time has been spent on this aspect, even if the brighter shirts can get a bit radioactive on close up shots. Another point worth noting is the inclusion of training sessions over the loading screens, which ensures the player is constantly engaged in action - something also afforded by the quick tactics box that pops up during stoppages in play. The Classics XI, the unlockable classic shirts and the immense soundtrack also contribute to the fun, but it just doesn’t save this flawed title. The final remarks must be given to the depth of the game itself, or lack of. Calling a game ROAD TO FIFA WORLD CUP doesn’t mean you can get away with not including the main tournament itself. Once you’ve qualified, it’s the end of the line. Presumably, the thinking was we’d be so thirsty for more we’d all rush out and buy the follow up title, FIFA WORLD CUP 2006. Not likely. It is assumed that EA tried to make up for the lack of depth by ramping up the opponent AI to a far superior level to that of the user, but this just inadvertently renders every game a chore rather than a challenge, even on the easier settings. It is in this final hurrah, a real kick in the teeth for those who spent ?50 on it at launch, that FIFA 06: RTFWC will ultimately be remembered as an unsatisfactory game. Couple it with the fact you can’t actually pick anyone outside of Europe for the single player qualifier mode, and you really do start to feel cheated out of your hard earned cash. I see no way I could recommend this game to anybody. There was a time it was a best-seller, but this is down to the fact it was, for several months, the only football title available on the 360. If you’re reading this review, you’re thinking about this title. Add it to your roster if you’re the kind of person who wants some easy gamerpoints. If you have more interesting things to do, like enjoying computer games, then save your money and opt for the far superior, vaster and ultimately more fun Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

Customer Review: The one to beat Colin McRae? I don’t think so!
There are some people who fondly remember the original Sega Rally, I was one of them. That is, until Codemasters came out with the Colin McRae Rally series, and I haven’t looked back - until now. I used to play the original (on the Saturn, firstly) and thought it was so realistic, but when I got hold of the first CMR, I realised how wrong I was! To illustrate this point, I went back to play the original Sega Rally and CMR a couple of days ago. And, Sega Rally just doesn’t compare. But, this is a new Sega Rally, and therefore all-singing and all-dancing, right? Wrong. Yes, it is very pretty; this is something Sega always get right. But, you get the same feeling as before with the previous Sega Rally(s) that you’re actually driving a floating box - it just doesn’t feel like a car. Sega fanboys call this type of handling “unique” - everybody else would call it “shopping trolley”. But, fair’s fair, if you get on with it, then that’s fine - a lot of people don’t; it’s just not very realistic. If that were it then I’d say this was a slightly above-average game (after all, there’s not many off-road racers for the 360). However, there’s one frustratingly unforgiveable flaw with it concerning game modes. The main “Career” (or whatever you they call it) part of the game has you taking part in 3 successive races on 3 different surfaces (the obligatory tarmac, gravel, and sandy-type stuff, etc). But, you can only choose one tyre type with which to undertake these races. Frustration soon sets in once you realise that you can only ever race 1 of the 3 races in the series properly - somewhat bizarre, to say the least. All in all, despite it being one of the few 360 offroaders out there at present, I would still say avoid. If you’re looking for similar, a far better choice is Colin McRae DIRT. If you’ve already got that, then save your money! Without the stupid race selection it would have been 3 out of 5 (and I’m being generous), but sadly, as with so many Sega games in recent years, it looks very pretty, but just doesn’t cut it. Rather sad, really, I’d love to see Sega do better.
Customer Review: Very good fun!!
Think of Sega Rally as Ridge racer in mud and you get the idea. It’s track racing ala PGR, Forza etc, but in rally environments. There is track deformation which adds a dimension to the game. 30 odd cars to collect with a few liveries for each. 12 or so courses + reverse versions. It’s a fun blast in the mud. Don’t expect it to keep you occupied for hours every night for weeks. This is not a deep game with masses of cars and tracks like PGR, but it is good fun, and pretty challenging on the harder levels too. I would recommend it, though it probably won’t be long before you can pick it up cheap in the trade in section, as it’s fairly simplistic and certain types of gamer will play this for a week then trade it in. If you are one of those types, it’s probably better to rent it. This is all based on the retail version of the game, not the demo.
Gears of War (Xbox 360)
In a nutshell:
One of the most highly rated games of E3, Gears of War is looking likely to be the Xbox 360’s Christmas blockbuster with the best graphics yet seen on the system and a tactical twist on the usual shoot `em-up gameplay.
The lowdown:
With Halo still at least a year out this is currently the Xbox 360’s premier exclusive shoot `em-up. Using a third person, over the shoulder, view rather than the usual first person viewpoint the game emphasis the importance of cover and tactics rather than just running and gunning. The question of cover becomes particularly important given the impressively destructible environments you fight in, which create a constantly shifting battlefield for you to navigate. As you’d expect the game also contains an extensive suite of multiplayer and co-op modes for play over Xbox Live.
Most exciting moment:
The graphics are stunning, nearly photorealistic, but the greatest guilty pleasure in the game so far is the “chainsaw bayonet” and the OTT spurt of gore it extracts from bad guys.
Since you ask:
Gears of War developers Epic Games are also responsible for the Unreal Engine 3 graphics engine which is used in many other games from Assassin’s Creed to Lost Odyssey.
The bottom line:
Who needs Halo when the Gears of War are turning as smartly as this?

Customer Review: If you do not have this game, where have you been for the past year?!?
Just to get one thing straight, this is the account holders’ son writing this review, Kam Ahary (my name). To start off, I was a ps fan boy. I had the PS1 and the PS2, and they were fantastic, I loved them to bits, I spent hours playing on them, some time getting into trouble from playing them too much (a lot of people can probably relate to this). When I saw anything to do with Xbox I would say some quite rude things about it, lol (which looking back now was childish). But it was the day I bought a regular games magazine, and saw Saints Row and Gears Of War, that got me interested in Xbox. At first I thought, nah ill be fine, ps2 has some life left I don’t need to worry about these games yet, and im sure to get a ps3 with these games on anyway, so no problem. I think it was a couple of days later I saw some footage or some pictures of Gears Of War, I thought woh, holy moly, this game looks awesome, I have to get this game. I followed that game ever since I saw it, and vowed I would get an Xbox 360 and play that game. You may think all that above may have been a waste of time to type, but what I am trying to say is that, this is the game that made me buy an Xbox 360. This is what makes you buy a console, for the games, usually a game will pull and suck you in(in SOME of my friends cases(not you Morphueus 24-7), I don’t know why they got a ps3, they can’t give a valid explanation, but anyway that’s beside the point of this review). So I finally got an Xbox shortly after my GCSE’s, and I have hardly ever put this game down, I might play another game like assassins Creed for a while, but will return to Gears Of War, for a couple of hours, because it has to be one of the best games to be released of all time. I just wanted to get some things off my chest before I began the review. Anyway, if you haven’t fallen asleep by now then here is my review. Graphics: The Graphics are obviously a bit old now, but on release they were the best seen, and to be honest they are still outstanding. There is SOME (not many) texture popping issues on this game, but I have heard this is to do with how much stuff you have on your hard drive. When you are just strolling around levels or playing online, they are fantastic, but when you take the time or purposely look for what the graphics are like, then at close up, they are a bit clay like or in other words rubbish. Do not be put off by this though, because like I said the graphics are awesome, and anyway if you are looking really closely at the graphics, there is something wrong with you. Graphics=8/10 Story: Gears Of War has a bit of a weird story, but that doesn’t simply mean that the game isn’t any good, because it is. I won’t tell you much of the story, because I don’t want to ruin the game for anyone that hasn’t played it yet. Here is the basic plot outline for the game. Gears of War has you playing as Marcus Fenix a disgraced soldier that went to jail for disobeying a general or something. Marcus fenix is broken out of jail as it seems his skills are needed. You fight the Locust Horde who have, come to planet Sera (home of the humans in this game) to take over, since you laid waste to theirs apparently (if I remember correctly). From there the story takes flight, taking you through 5 “acts” each with about 5 levels in each chapter. The last thing I will say about the story is that the game has a cliff hangar, which most likely means they will make a sequel. Story=8/10 Gameplay: The gameplay in my opinion is totally new, I have never played something that has had this cover, or pop and shoot system as Cliffy B (lead designer) calls it. Games before Gears Of War were just simple hiding behind an object or wall, etc, but gears redefines cover. You use the A button to take cover behind any object, etc. You also use the A button as a roll, and run button. It may sound like too many actions to 1 button, but it really isn’t. Gameplay=8/10 Multiplayer (co-op): Gears Of War has Co-op play on (Xbox live) and offline (splitscreen). You may think this is just another silly add on, but this feature adds another level of excitement or whatever you want to call it to the game. Simply playing with a friend over Xbox live, or with a friend splitscreen is so much fun. Co-op play adds some lastivity (hope that’s a word) to the game. Multiplayer=8/10 Online play: The Online play on Gears Of War is simply brilliant. It will have you coming back weeks or, in my case and many others, months after its release. Me and my friends have such a laugh with this game. Taking heads off with a sniper, taking people down and then dancing around them (You know what I mean Morphueus 24-7,lol). There is definitely plenty of fun to be had with the online play. The online play consists of about 4 game modes in which 4 of you go against 4 others. Online play=9/10 How long it will last: If you play the campaign on insane difficulty (the hardest difficulty) then the campaign will last you roughly 10 hours, but the online play, and replay of campaign will definitely last you a long time. Weapons: The weapons are pretty standard to be perfectly honest except from the boomshot (rpg), and the torque bow (crossbow gun which fires exploding arrow). You get your pistol, grenades, shotguns, snipers, rifles, and the LANCER (which is a rifle/machine gun, but has a chainsaw on the bottom). Trust me chainsawing people never gets old, and is so worth charging at a locust for. The AI (enemies, and team-mates): The AI in Gears Of War is relatively good. They take cover and are good at shooting you, or the enemy. Your Team-mates are not exactly bad at helping out, but they aren’t great. The enemies are quite clever, as they will charge at you, take cover an stuff, but sometimes (this is rarely) will stand still or run away or do stupid stuff. You just shoot them though and get on with the game. OVERALL SCORE=8.2 Well I hope this review has helped you to buy the game if u haven’t already. Thank you for reading.
Customer Review: Reminds me of Halo combat evolved…
… Leaves you wanting more. But just like Halo sets new standards. A worth while buy for anyone, unless you really don’t like any degree of gore. I recomend this game to anyone… better get this game now so that you won’t miss out on the inevitable success of the gears of war brand that is to arrise in years to come, with GOW2 only a year or two away (fingers-crossed)
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360) In a nutshell:
The surprise hit of 2005 is back and this time it’s moved on from the prequels and onto “proper” Star Wars. It may sound like one of the worst excesses of marketing hell but this is good enough to rejuvenate your love for both video games and Star Wars (and Lego)!
The lowdown:
As ridiculous as the idea sounds this is one of the few games that really can be played by all ages, from tots to grandparents - the game even adjusts its difficultly level on the fly depending how well you’re doing. The graphics are absolutely hilarious as the game pokes gentle fun at all the films and characters and uses the Lego motif so you can build new structures and objects as you go. With more playable characters than ever each now has their own special move, such as Chewbacca’s ability to pull the arms off Stormtroopers, and you can get in and out of vehicles whenever you want in some levels.
Most exciting moment:
The game features a large number of vehicles to drive, including landspeeders and AT-STs. You can also ride a Dewback which excretes an ominous looking brown Lego stud if you press a button…
Since you ask:
The all important two player co-op mode from the first game is still in the sequel, plus you can now design your own characters out of component Lego pieces. Darth Greedo, anyone?
The bottom line:
The Force is strong with this one.

Customer Review: Superb fun
As a boy growing up in the 80’s star wars was a huge part of my life and this was the decade when the toys associated with the film really took off. Sadly, star wars toys made of Lego were 20 years away and now, as a 30 year old, trying to persuade my wife that buying Lego is a good idea is just not happening. Thankfully the genius’s at Lego and Lucas arts have come up with this cracker of a game which I can just about get away with buying. The premise is simple in that it follows the last three films (or first 3 depending on your age!!) and you are taken through virtually every major set piece, in each film, playing as various Lego/star wars characters. The learning curve is perfect for both kids and adults alike. The cut scenes in between each level are hilarious. My first play of the game was with the “help” of an 8 and a 6 year old and we all spent most of the time in hysterics. The animation is superb and the controls are very cleverly done. Just push gently on the left stick and watching the characters “creeping” is very funny. This is a game which provides excellent family entertainment and really fits the category of “suitable for all ages”. If you are a fan of the first Lego star wars game then this comes highly recommended.
Customer Review: Fun to play…Incredibly Frustrating To Save!
I like this game a lot. It’s a laugh to play as you go through the various famous Star Wars scenes and stuff as a Lego character (the Lego Boombox that blasts out a heavy metal version of the Imperial March, making Gamorrean guards rock out is one of the best things I’ve seen!) However, I find trying to save your progress in this game EXTREMELY frustrating! For some reason when you clear a chapter and your autosave kicks in, it doesn’t save your progress properly and you end up right back at the Mos Eisley cantina when you reload your game. Not cool.
I plan to keep playing this game and figure out what’s going wrong, but that in itself is something no gamer should have to do. In short, great game, LOUSY saving system!
