Stranglehold (Xbox 360)

Stranglehold (Xbox 360)
Companies are always going on about the synergy between movies and video games, but all this really ever seems to mean is lots of dreadful movie tie-ins where all the money has been spent on celebrity voiceovers. Stranglehold is different though, in that it’s essentially a sequel to 1992’s classic movie Hard Boiled, made purely for video games. This time Inspector “Tequila” Yuen is unleashing his unorthodox policing methods on Russian crime bosses in both Hong Kong and Chicago. It stars the likeness of original lead Chow Yun Fat and has been developed with hands-on help from director John Woo - who it turns out does seem to know a thing or two about video games.

Of course video games have been ripping off John Woo for years, particularly his trademark slow motion shots of two-handed pistol action. As a result this initially seems dangerously similar to Max Payne et al., but the graphical power of the next generation consoles and PC ensures that this is a far more dynamic and interactive affair. Not only can you make use of a bullet time effect (call “Tequila time” here) to slow down time around you but almost all of the scenery can be used too, from sliding down banisters guns firing to scooting across the room on top of a waiter’s trolley. The damage done as you go is truly impressive, with tiles shattering off the walls, chandeliers impaling bad guys as they fall and electric wires and water mains unhinging themselves everywhere. Making a mess has never been so much fun.

Customer Review: Great game, poisoned by the storyline.
This Game is fantastic for first time players. Great visuals, a Max Payne like presence all around when you utilize some of the fantastic mouth watering special attacks.

You play as well renowned actor Chow Yun Fat, and the game is intended to be a sequel to the hit movie: “Hard Boiled”. The game achieves this to some extent, as i can see the definate similarities from film to game, however the joy ends when one focuses on the storyline.

The storyline suffers with its lack of depth, and its somewhat incoherent and frustrating jumps between places. The game on a whole is a joy to play, but the average gamer may feel asif the fun has ended a little too early.

Another thing which brings the game off its pedestal is the Frustrating difficulty level, you could find yourself dead within seconds in some areas, or you might not die at all, it all depends on how you play the game, i decided to use the special attacks less throughout the game.

The “barrage” attack can dispense bosses on even the hardest difficulty level which can be frustrating for the die hard shoot-em-up fan, because in my opinion the bosses fall short of the challenge intended. One of the special attacks i enjoyed to utilize frequently was the “Precision Aim”, where the character fires a bullet with pinpoint accuracy from a helpful zoom screen, the enemy which is struck with the bullet then reacts accordingly with where they were struck.

Overall i would recommend this game to people who are looking for action over depth, Stranglehold in its entirety is a diamond in the rough, which has been let down by badly structured storylines and a disappointing ending.

Customer Review: True Woo Style gameplay - challenging but not too difficult - shame about multiplayer though
For those of you who love John Woo films and his artistic style, this game is for you. The game character Tequila is the character from the movie Hard Boiled (played by Chow Yun Fat) - a badass cop who doesn’t mind bending the rules to put bad guys away. As in the movie Hard Boiled, the action scenes are wonderfully played out with a mix of slow motion and manic gun fights or exposions. In this game Stranglehold, this is no exception.

The feature of the game is that you can slow time down for a limited period of time allowing you to aim more precisely and kill more bad guys. You’ll find that you want to dive often where time is automatically slowed down (just like in Hard Boiled!!).

You can also run along banisers, chairs, walls etc which is great fun and I really like being able to jump off a wall, kick it and fire my guns falling backwards and also jumping onto a trolley and killing peole as your coast along (also in Hard Boiled in the Hospital). John Woo’s trademark is the used throughout the game like the use of two pistols, Woo time (slow motion) and close encouter gunfights, and sliding across tables etc. In the extra’s, you can go to a shop with John Woo as the salesman and buy extras after earning them during gameplay.

Similar to Devil May Cry for the PS2, you have Style points and combo points, so the more you kill people with style (e.g. sliding down a banister and killing guys) the more points you gain. Your points are contributed to ‘Tequila Bomb gauge’ that fills up. As you progress along the game you unlock 4 specials. When the first quarter fills, you have the option of a health boost; the second precision aim (allows a zoom in to bad guys for distance shots); the third quarter allows Tequila to fill up with bullets on whatever weapon he is holding and then blast away very, very quickly without diminishing your ammo count; the final quarter filled up allows Tequila to do a special move, spinning on the spot to kill bad guys (which is really cool to watch).

As in Hard Boiled paper cranes make an appearance. You can collect these throughout the game to increase the ‘Tequila Bomb gauge’ immediately to help you get to those special moves quickly.

There is a multiplayer option but so far I don’t think I’ve come across anyone on it yet. Maybe I’ll take a look on the XBOX forums to see who’s interested in some gaming.

All in all a very enjoyable game. The movement for gameplay is easy to get used to and intuitive. The game is not too difficult to play but in places, hard enough to be a challenge. In addition, at any checkpoint, you can play on easy, casual and hard, so if you get stuck, just start the game again and continue the gameplay on an easier level.

If you always wanted to play Tequila and kick some butt, then get this game as you’ll have a blast doing the slow motion, jumping over chairs, kicking tables etc. in true Woo style.

Customer Review: Crapdown? Hell no!
What can i say for this game? That it constantly surprises me at every turn? the graphics and sound are second to none? Whatever you think, these statements are true. Though Crackdown has no paticular story, it makes up for that with intense action and non-stop thrills. The array of guns were unparalled by none. One minute you are eating a Subway sandwich in the park, and the next you are waging terrible war with bloodthirsty criminals! To put it simply, Crackdown is simply astonishing. The freeform jumping and chasing sequences are bound to exhilerate even the most boring of people. If you are hesitating to buy this game, i order you not to, or you will never find the apparent “perfect game”
Customer Review: I like it, but it’s not quite as good as I thought it would be
As my title says, I did enjoy this game but am kinda disappointed by it. After hearing about the great reviews it got & a ex gf of mine saying it was really good I decided to buy it. So let’s move onto reviweing the different elements of the game. Graphically, it’s a nice game with graphic novel (aka cell shaded) graphics & I like the designs for the agency pistol & assault rifle & it makes a nice change since I’m more use to Bioshock, Lost Planet, Gears Of War etc in those terms. Gameplay wise, it is a lot like other sandbox genre games in terms of shooting but there is the ability of being able to leap great distances like The Incredible Hulk which is quite easy to get to grips with, only negative point is that being able to leap 30 feet across the city in a single bound makes simple jumps quite tricky sometimes & sometimes guns would lock onto vehicles or dead bodies which doesn’t help much. The presentation is nice, the boxart is quite ok to look at & the manual is as another review mentions done like a hand manual which I always quite like as it makes you feel more part of the game, but this game has a big problem with involvement which I’ll get onto shortly. Storyline, is well, about 0.01% existent. It is as simple as kill bad guys to make city safe, your agent has no story or past except that he’s there to crush gang members with guns, his foot & the odd car or so if you feel like it. So unfortunately having an instruction manual that reads like you are the agent rather than a gamer is a bit pointless in a game that doesn’t really involve you in a story. Lifespan is short, shorter than I expected it to be. I recieved it yesterday & completed it today & I wasn’t even that good at it sometimes & spent a lot of time messing about. It didn’t help that I managed to take down one of the last generals in a space of a few minutes & killed very few guards & just knocked him over with a kick & stomped on him till he was dead like most the other ones. I would have also liked to have seen more than 3 agency weapons, I would have liked an agency sniper rifle & rocket launcher at least. Having completed it, I’ve realised how much I’ve missed games like The Darkness, Bioshock, Gears Of War & even Halo 3. Sure, I’ll play this again from time to time but it won’t be something I’ll be really playing like I would other games. So in a nutshell, not a bad game it just is a bit disappointing & not quite as good as a filler I thought it would be, it’s gonna be a while before I fire it up again.

Customer Review: Annoying and lacking in the fun factor
Oh well, I really hoped this would be the 3d sonic game that recaptured the fun of the 2d originals. The graphics are no better than sonic adventure on the sega dreamcast, the camera is frustrating and the gameplay is very linear.
Customer Review: Very good game, but a few annoying things
I bought this game and was expecting awesome flowing gameplay, improved graphics and an easier way of playing from sonic adventure 2. The graphics i feel are superb for a game like this, i mean you cant make a game like this look too real otherwise it would get rid of the cartoon element of it. The gameplay overall is good, but the characters can become difficult to control at times due to the cameras movement, yes they can be rectified by the trigger buttons but they dont always help. Loading screens will annoy a lot of people on this game but you can get used to them, and the game does flow when they are not around. The levels on this game are cool, and remind me a lot of the 1st title on the dreamcast, sonic adventure, which was a great sonic game, probably the best 3d game. Sonic the hedgehog does live up to a lot of expectations for me, and i hate it when people slate a game for a few poor reasons, i would definitely recommend this title to anybody.

Customer Review: Possibly the worse racing game i’ve ever played
Good points -Cars look good -Sound track alright Bad points -Worst handling in a racing game i’ve ever seen, you can’t drive slowly, its either all or nothing, very unrealistic. I know its not meant to be the most realistic game in the world, but its still terrible. You can’t turn a slight bend at 30 mph without the car going ‘SSSSSCCCCCREEEEEEEEECCCCCHHHHH!’, just horrible. -Rest of the game looks terrible, if a game has to hide the fact that its graphically insignificant by setting the entire game at night time, you know its gonna be awful -Terrible AI -Choppy frame rates which you would have thought they’d have fixed by now -Car customization incredibly awkward and time consuming -Single player career mode way too short - approx 6-7 hours Do NOT waste your money on this game unless you’re a real NFS freak. Even then i’d just stick with underground 2. If you’ve got a PS2/PS3, guy by Gran Turismo.
Customer Review: GOOD FUN BUT NOT ENOUGH
I bought this game second hand and glad I did so. Although it was really fun and at times challenging, the overall game was really short. I defeated Darius, the last boss eventually with my SLR Maclaren. After this, the credits came up and blah blah blah but it says that I have only completed 87% which is rather odd. Does anyone know what I have to do after defeating Darius

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360) In a nutshell:
The surprise hit of 2005 is back and this time it’s moved on from the prequels and onto “proper” Star Wars. It may sound like one of the worst excesses of marketing hell but this is good enough to rejuvenate your love for both video games and Star Wars (and Lego)!

The lowdown:
As ridiculous as the idea sounds this is one of the few games that really can be played by all ages, from tots to grandparents - the game even adjusts its difficultly level on the fly depending how well you’re doing. The graphics are absolutely hilarious as the game pokes gentle fun at all the films and characters and uses the Lego motif so you can build new structures and objects as you go. With more playable characters than ever each now has their own special move, such as Chewbacca’s ability to pull the arms off Stormtroopers, and you can get in and out of vehicles whenever you want in some levels.

Most exciting moment:
The game features a large number of vehicles to drive, including landspeeders and AT-STs. You can also ride a Dewback which excretes an ominous looking brown Lego stud if you press a button…

Since you ask:
The all important two player co-op mode from the first game is still in the sequel, plus you can now design your own characters out of component Lego pieces. Darth Greedo, anyone?

The bottom line:
The Force is strong with this one.

Customer Review: Superb fun
As a boy growing up in the 80’s star wars was a huge part of my life and this was the decade when the toys associated with the film really took off. Sadly, star wars toys made of Lego were 20 years away and now, as a 30 year old, trying to persuade my wife that buying Lego is a good idea is just not happening. Thankfully the genius’s at Lego and Lucas arts have come up with this cracker of a game which I can just about get away with buying. The premise is simple in that it follows the last three films (or first 3 depending on your age!!) and you are taken through virtually every major set piece, in each film, playing as various Lego/star wars characters. The learning curve is perfect for both kids and adults alike. The cut scenes in between each level are hilarious. My first play of the game was with the “help” of an 8 and a 6 year old and we all spent most of the time in hysterics. The animation is superb and the controls are very cleverly done. Just push gently on the left stick and watching the characters “creeping” is very funny. This is a game which provides excellent family entertainment and really fits the category of “suitable for all ages”. If you are a fan of the first Lego star wars game then this comes highly recommended.
Customer Review: Fun to play…Incredibly Frustrating To Save!
I like this game a lot. It’s a laugh to play as you go through the various famous Star Wars scenes and stuff as a Lego character (the Lego Boombox that blasts out a heavy metal version of the Imperial March, making Gamorrean guards rock out is one of the best things I’ve seen!) However, I find trying to save your progress in this game EXTREMELY frustrating! For some reason when you clear a chapter and your autosave kicks in, it doesn’t save your progress properly and you end up right back at the Mos Eisley cantina when you reload your game. Not cool.

I plan to keep playing this game and figure out what’s going wrong, but that in itself is something no gamer should have to do. In short, great game, LOUSY saving system!

XBOX360 UK 3 Pin AC POWER ADAPTOR/ POWER BOX

Viva Pinata (Xbox 360)

In a nutshell:
Ex-Nintendo developer Rare is bringing a rather different style of game to the Xbox 360 as you tend a virtual garden to attract and tame magical talking pi?atas. It may sound twee but its ability to addict is far more powerful than its cutesy graphics suggest.

The lowdown:
Unlike most first party Xbox games this is not an action game, but a gentler, more family friendly, simulation in the tradition of Animal Crossing. The basic premise is that you have a plot of land that you can turn from an overgrown mess into a beautiful garden. In so doing it will attract a range of 60 different pi?atas who, depending on how you treat them, will then decide to live there. For something as simple as a pi?ata worm you just have to have a patch of earth for them to play in but other pi?atas are a lot more demanding, while others first need to be tamed from their aggressive wild state.

Most exciting moment:
Not only can you accessorise your pi?atas with items bought from Xbox Live Marketplace but you can also swap items and pi?atas with other friends that own the game online.

Since you ask:
Viva Pi?ata has been conceived as a Pokemon style cross media franchise from the off, with all kinds of toys and merchandise already planned, as well as a new 4Kids cartoon series.

The bottom line:
At last there’s an Xbox 360 game the whole family can play and enjoy.

Customer Review: One of the best games on xbox 360
This has GOT to be one of the best games on Xbox 360. A lot of people think it’s for little kids, but it’s for everyone. I know loads of people over the age of 13 that love the game, and I do too! It’s got great graphics, and it’s the most imaginative, colourful game I’ve ever played. It doesn’t get tiresome, and theres always something to do. Collect Pinatas, unlock to shops, characters, upgrades and items, become a great gardener, collect coins and much more! When you get to level 13 ish, you start doing factory challenges as well, where the Pinata Central are relying on you to get Pinatas. If your not sure about getting this game, theres a brilliant new demo on the xbox live marketplace, it might be 1.3gb but it’s worth the wait and you can just delete it anyway. It’s also rewarding with some easy achievements, and some a bit harder. Don’t rate it till you’ve tried it, this game is one of the best out there!
Customer Review: wow!
was always interested in this game, and bought it about a week ago, and love it! at one point i spent seven hours playing, straight! easy achievements too, got 880 after a week, but can imagine it getting boring after to complete the game, but still, well worth the money!!

Customer Review: A taste of the other side
This title offers a solid preview of the other side of XBOX 360: the Live Arcade. It is evidently aimed at those who aren’t part of the XBOX Live Arcade (XBLA) online community, and provides those gamers with a taster for the kind of title offered. The pick of the bunch has to be Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Loosely based on the gameplay of classic Robotron: 2084 (incidentally also available on XBLA), it is a fast, engrossing and sharp game that has a real appeal to the serious gamer. Elsewhere, Texas Hold ‘Em and Hardwood Backgammon are as expected, but are reasonable nontheless; Wik: Fable of Souls is an odd one with a limited lifespan; Outpost Kaloki challenges you to build an intergalactic business in a unique way; and Bewjeweled 2 offers a similar style to Hexic (which you should all be familiar with if you’ve acquanted yourself with the Dashboard). Three demos are thrown in for even more tasters. It has to be said that almost a year on from its original release, the games featured certainly aren’t the pick of the bunch, and only Geometry Wars and Texas Hold ‘Em have stood the test of time with the online community. However, with a months free trial subscription to XBOX Live Gold (worth ?4.99), and the games valued at around ?30 if bought over the Marketplace (an online shopping site exclusive to the Dashboard), it does represent value for money. Certainly, at the moment you can buy this for as little as ?10 new, which is grand, although it is worth noting that the redeemable codes for the trial subscription will run out by the end of June 2007, so make sure you have yours by then. So, if you’re wondering what it’s like on the XBLA, then look no further then this. Just don’t be put off by the quality of games. Even though they are reasonable, the six game spectrum no longer represents what is on offer. This could be resolved by Microsoft with the anticipated Unplugged: Volume 2, which is hopefully just around the corner. With a range of new and retro titles including Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Boom Boom Rocket, Alien Hominid, Worms, Pac-Man, Centipede/Millipede, Double Dragon and Lumines Live available online now (to name but a few), to really know what there is to offer you will have to just take that leap of faith. For those who don’t wish to, Microsoft needs to put out a second installment as soon as possible before this game strays too far away from its original objective: to advertise the cream of the titles on offer on XBLA.
Customer Review: Good value if you dont have the games.
It has 6 Xbox Live Arcade games plus 3 trails on disc, plus a one month XBL Gold card (which can be used to add an extra month to an existing sub) Anyway, you put the disc in your 360 like normal, but it doesnt auto load like a normal 360 game. Instead, you have to nip over to the arcade section, where it adds them to your list but with a DVD icon next to there names. When you select one it loads just like normal, with no changes from the download version. If you select play game on the main screen it just dumps you into the arcade area. Oh and yes, it doubles them up - so i have two versions of Geometry Wars listed, one with a disc icon one without, lol. When you take the disc out, they arent listed any more, but they are still llisted under games/achievements etc Loading times are petty much non-existent, apart from a brief load at the start (before the game your playings title). It saves your game fine, but for some reason it doesnt show up in the Memory section of the dash. Me thinks MS need to fix that (like they did with the Xbox content download not showing glitch) My verdict? Worth it if you have none of the games, or say max 2 and you want the others. Heck MS should give it away with new 360s, imo.

Neo Se Advanced Controller (Xbox 360)

Neo Se Advanced Controller (Xbox 360)
Customer Review: Cheaper, but noticeably worse than the official controller.
I wanted an extra controller for when playing with buddies at home. Since this only happens occasionally, I didn’t want to spend more money than necessary. For the purpose of this review I will compare with the official controller.

Overall feel and design - sits well in my hands, and feels comfortable in general. I don’t like the placement of the back/start buttons though, as it feels a bit awkward reaching them. Still, there is less risk of pressing them by accident like this.

Buttons - feel a bit hard, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I suspect that button-mashing games will make your fingers hurt though. Sensitivy is on par with the official controller.

D-pad - this actually feels more precise. I always had a wee bit of problems with the official D-pad, and especially the diagonals feel imprecise. This one’s better, and should be good for fighting games.

Triggers - firmer and with more resistance than the official controller. Neither better nor worse for any practical purpose. With driving games I actually think it’s easier to maintain exactly the right level of acceleration. If you need to repeatedly press the triggers fast, they can feel a little too tough.

Analog sticks - these feel flip-floppy, imprecise, and not that analog. They are too soft, and movement often becomes all-or-nothing. On shooters this can be compensated by turning overall sensitivity down, and it’s ok. But play any game which recquires precise sequences of movements (trick games, driving, FNR3) and it becomes a major pain. It is a noticeable handicap playing with this controller, which is not how I want my coop or vs games at home.

Conclusions - if a good D-pad is crucial for you, to the point of not caring that much about the sticks, buy it at good value. Otherwise, wait until you can afford a better controller, or you will regret your buy like I did.

Customer Review: Do not buy!
after my friend got his 360 we put our cash 2gether to buy a cheap controller and we brought this. what a mistake, the anaolog sticks are way to sensitive and are not accuarate, the sticks feel very delayed and are a pain when playing driving games as your constantly trying to keep your car in line.

The trigger were very tough too but im guessing thats because it was new. the 360 button did work and all the player lights were correct.

Buy the official controller's! its worth the extra cash trust me!

Customer Review: Underwhelming and Counterintuitive
Everything about this game just feels a bit wrong. I bought it yesterday and am trading it in for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground tomorrow. The way in which you have to press a button to push for speed takes so long that by the time you get to where you want to do the trick you are not going fast enough so you have to scramble to get your thumb to the ‘flickit’ control and because it is so counter-intuitive and difficult to use you fall every time and if you miss on a run to an object you have to do a massive wheel to turn around, or a powerslide which makes you lose all your momentum meaning you have to build up speed again, causing the same problem. The camera angle is horrendous pointing from some point behind your knees so you can’t see where you are going. For any fans of THPS who thought about buying this instead of Proving Ground as an alternative, don’t it’s not worth the money.

I was a huge fan of Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, so when I found out that PGR3 was in the pipeline I was excited, VERY excited! MSR was unique in the way you were awarded for how you drove, not how fast you drove. PGR3 is everything MSR was and so much more. Everything about this game oozes class. Graphically it’s gorgeous! everything from the hands on Big Bens clock face to the gravel on Las Vegas strip is beautiful but it’s the gameplay where this game excels. You are actually awarded for how you drive fast, not how fast you drive, and thats what makes this game so brilliantly unique. Drifting your Ferrari around a 90 degree bend and leaving the pack in your own tyre smoke, breathtaking!

PGR is more of an arcade style driving game than a driving sim. Anyone who has played GT4 will be disappointed by the way the cars handle, it’s all gas and oversteer. The car selection is a little predictable and the cars are all really pretty similar. As a pick up and play driving game this is good fun and easy to use, if you want a big complex sim buy Forza instead.

Customer Review: Quick and Easy
Straight out of the box and playing within minutes. The only reason I got an Xbox was to play Halo 3 with pals and online. I paid the extra ?20 quid or so for the halo edition becuase it stands out and is different and is a newer version and less likly to over heat or have problems. Neo Se Advanced Controller (Xbox 360) Customer Review: Cheaper, but noticeably worse than the official controller.

Customer Review: Truly brilliant racing game.
NFS Most Wanted is a total success, because it manages to be exciting, addictive & this 360 version looks amazing. The city of Rockport is huge & it has a gritty & grimy look that’s very realistic. The choice of cars is very extensive, & the career mode is the main part of the game where you work your way through, win races, earning money as you go & meeting new challengers in the game’s “blacklist”. I must also mention the movie scenes in between the races. These look absolutely superb & have real people in them, & not CGI characters !! Finally, the police element in the game is wonderful. It’s huge fun to have the chance to make a getaway & have several police cruisers on your tail !!! Awesome. A racing game that’s really special !!!
Customer Review: The best NFS for ages
Owning and completing this game on PS2 was a lotta fun so now owning a 360 I had to get it and play. Let me start by saying I own both Carbon and Most wanted and most wanted is a far better game in every department. For starters it the first one I can remember that actually races in the day allowing you to take in the beautiful graphics and overall design of the game. The police chases A huge huge bonus they actaully make you feel tense as your wanted level goes up as you cause more chaos whilst racing. The story is brilliant with hilarous FMV;s brilliantly cheesy and a lot of fun to watch. - Not sure if they where supposed to be comical to start with but by half they are cracking to watch. The Cars themselves are good in number and choice, with the usual upgrade options on visuals/performance etc, with special limited parts becoming available as you win races from the main characters in the game. An extra challenge series of some 50 set races allowing adds to the single player mode - but generally I would say getting all 100% will set you back 30+ hrs. This is an excellent arcade racer for a good price that has an open play style of racing and the speed/panic it brings that only a few racers could hope for and in my view is only beaten by Burnour Revenge(at current time) as being king of the arcade racers.

New release - Nyko Intercooler EX (Xbox 360) Keep your Xbox 360 running at optimal conditions. The Intercooler EX for Xbox 360 is a snap on cooling attachment that easily connects to the Xbox 360. No internal modification of the Xbox 360 is required. A pass through power connection utilizes the existing Xbox 360 power supply negating the need for an extra AC adaptor. The unit also powers on and off automatically with 360 and the intercoolers small size will fit in tight spaces like entertainment centers with your 360 displayed in either horizontal or vertical format.

WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 (Xbox 360)

WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 (Xbox 360)
Customer Review: The “King” of all wrestling games is here!
What a great wrestling game! Now I’m not saying its a perfect game…. it certainly has one or two stupid bugs but this game has so much to offer. Whether or not you are a wrestling fan this game has a lot to make it attractive for several weeks off hard playing.

Firstly the roster of stars is great and it is a nice touch that you can “unlock” legendary stars such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock etc. Also you can create your own superstar and this is fantastic, everything from height, weight, skin tone, tattoos and much more can go into making you superstar with of course their own special set of wrestling moves. With fight experience your superstar improves and will eventually challenge for a title match!

The fights themselves are very varied with at least 12 - 16 match types, wrestlers having different styles, strenghts and weaknesses. The moves will take some time to master but then this makes the game more enjoyable and challenging.

The season mode is fun if limited and is a good way to get involved in the “story side” of wrestling. It is also a greta way of improving your wrestling skills. Although the story is pretty simple it is still entertaining.

If you like wrestling then this game will knock you down and pin you for a three count!

Customer Review: Very good, but not perfect
This games is actually good once you get into it.

I want to talk about the cons first because I consider them quite major.

This game loads like a Playstation game (long), it can get annoying.

More importantly though, when this game was developed, I think they forgot people might play it, who have never actually played a “Smackdown vs Raw” game before, especially since this is the first one for an Xbox branded console. So what I really found frustrating is that this game more than any other previous WWE game, was the lack of a practice and tutorial mode.

A tutorial mode such as the one featured in the “WWE Day or Reckoning” games on the GameCube would have been perfect.

Even the instruction book is mostly catered to those who have played a previous version.

There is so much to learn, to the point where after playing one and a half way through the season mode, I am still discovering new controls, moves and tactics.

While I like deciding upon my own in ring tactics, I don’t appreciate having to learn so many controls without help.

If you’re a casual gamer like me, this will frustrate. I don’t think I can really put into words how much a tutorial mode was needed in this.

Other than this, the problems are a bit minor. Such as: there could be more wrestlers and for some reason you can’t use WWE Legends (unlocked wrestlers, such as Bret Hart) in season mode.

On the plus side some of the modes are really good, the graphics are great and it flows quite well, but leads to button bashing when your being attacked or your on the ground trying to recover.

Steel Cage matches are as frustrating as in every wrestling game.

Money in the bank matches (6 man ladder match) while initially quite good, turns into a real struggle and can take 30min or more for someone to win.

Royal Rumble isn’t that fun, its just a survival/struggle match.

And my God the referee is always in the way, can’t he stand back a bit.

These are just a few matches though.

It’s not clear how to win these matches at first (going back to my lack of tutorial or practice complaint).

I have been playing this for over a week solid play, still enjoying it for the most part, once you have learnt it though it’s worth it.

But initially its so overwhelming, having to learn the moves customizing everything from your locker room (which is cool) to options and create character mode is quite vast and can be over complicated.

It’s almost impossible to review this with out writing forever. I haven’t even touched the online mode or create a belt mode for that reason and I only scraped the surface in the “create a character” mode.

So is it worth it? Yes it is, right now it’s the best wresting game out there. But don’t expect an easy play, only if you are willing to give it time.

For all you who know what im talking about, is it better than the legendary N64 No Mercy in terms of gameplay? erm it comes very close, but it isn’t quite as satisfying, and my God did I play that to death. This isn’t quite as balanced and doesn’t flow quite as well. It’s still more about winning than actually taking your time in ring.

The presentation is flawless and watching the entrance to Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan (old school before he made himself look silly) makes you feel nostalgic about WWF in the old days when we were kids.

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
The epic saga continues with Halo 3, the hugely anticipated sequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo franchise. In this third chapter of the Halo trilogy, Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax. Customer Review: Never was going to live up to the hype
very dissapointing end to the trilogy. it was never going to live up to the hype but the sheer level of dissapointment is a big loss. now don’t get me wrong it is a good fun game, but it is a lot worse than it could have been. the campaign is way too short. on legendary mode me and a mate did it in 5 hours! that is not good enough. the graphics are rather dissapointing and the online multiplayer is to. it is good fun online but with only 3 or 4 good maps you are left with little to do in terms of replay value. i don’t really reccoment this game unless you are a huge halo fan in which case you would already own the game. if you want to buy a FPS but don’t have Halo3 get COD4 instead, it has much better graphics, a wider range of weaponary, more reallistic and satisfying kills and an exellent campaign. GET COD4!
Customer Review: Above expectations
A nice way to end the halo trilogy cut scenes aren’t over used and its an incredible game. If you complete it on legendary and see the extended ending after the credits then you should feel satisfied. Complete it at least twice to take in the game in more detail. A must have game for anyones gaming collection.

Saints Row (Xbox 360 Classics)

In a nutshell:
There’s no new Grand Theft Auto game scheduled until late next year, but in the meantime 360 owners have got the next best thing, as you and your fellow gang members try to take control of a whole city to turn into your personal playground.

The lowdown:
It is pretty hard to describe this game without mentioning Grand Theft Auto, since the gameplay and even mission structure is based very closely on Rockstar’s classic. Of course being on the Xbox 360 the graphics are better than they ever were before, with a huge draw distance and streets that are very much fuller of vehicles and people than the real Grand Theft Auto. In fact the only thing that’s missing is Rockstar’s trademark black humour, replaced here with constant references to pimps and ???hos??. There are though over 80 different vehicles to commandeer, all of which can be customised however you want.

Most exciting moment:
Although the city in which you battle is already bigger than Vice City the most impressive thing about the game’s graphics is the enormous amount of damage you can cause to vehicles and buildings. The game even remembers individual bullet holes on your prized car.

Since you ask:
The characters in Saint’s Row come in all shapes and sizes – not just the physically perfect mannequins of most other games. You can completely customise your own character, making them as fat, thin or buff looking as you wish.

The bottom line:
Grand Theft Auto 3.5 in all but name, that should make the wait till next October all the easier.

Saints Row is one of the best games I have ever played. Offline is amazing and I never get bored of it, but online there is a few things that wrecked this game from being the best. Saints Row 2 is coming out September 2008 and I cannot wait for it. But overall must buy game.

When i bought this game, i wondered what all the fuss is about. Like someone has already said, i thought i was going to get a Grand Theft Auto knock-off or at least something along those lines. But by god was i wrong. This game is an absolute joy from start to finish, some mouth watering visuals, from explosions, weather conditions and vehicles. The games characters are full of life, and the story line is gripping. The customisation on the cars is excellent, although a lack lustered effort to produce alot of modification, you can still arrive at a satisfactory look for your ride. My favourite aspect(s) of the game is the respect system. This adds lifetime to the game, and definately some replay value. The respect bar needs to be filled before one can attempt another mission. I think of it like mission-money, you need respect to buy new missions. This prevents the player from burning it through the whole game in one evening. The rediculous selection of activities available to earn respect brings hours and hours of entertainment, although one can become bored of the same-thing-but-different-person trouble with the activities, the majority of the time, i was smiling with enjoyment. The second aspect is the character customisation, absolutely fantastic. Physics have been added to pendants and necklaces which makes them sway when you run, which makes it gorgeous to look at. If you want GTA on the 360 without planes and boats and motorbikes, this game is a must buy.

Customer Review: What no Achievement Points
I initially downloaded Tiger Woods 07 on XBOX Live and really enjoyed the demo. Unfortunately I couldn’t find this version in Malaysia, however I did manage to locate the 06 version and decided to buy. The big difference, in fact the only difference, that I noticed between the two versions is the graphics. Whilst the graphics on 06 are very good - on 07 they are simply stunning with a huge improvement in face detail. The game itself - I have really enjoyed playing. I notice that there have been complaints about the Power boost being on the left bumper button - I don’t have a general problem with this and have got used to the swing with my left thumb and bashing the bumber with my index finger of my right hand. The only issue I have is due to the button configuration if you use power boost it is virtually impossible to use the right hand joystick to draw or fade the shot. It is like some bizzarre form of finger twister! For me the two drawbacks have been that I have yet to find anyone playing online (I have had the game a month). I do not know if this is because everyone has upgraded to the newer versions or there is a problem with the EA server. The other drawback is that despite having played this game for going on 30 hours I have not achieved any Achievement Points - I have completed most of the challenges - I have completed a round 4 under par. I have 8 holes in One, over 100 birdies - this is frustrating as it appears the level set to get Achievements has been set ridicuously high. Despite all the above comments - I do enjoy the game - and I suppose if you are looking for a golf experience i.e difficult, frustrating and requiring lots and lots of practice - this is the game for you.
Customer Review: Decent golf game in HD
Not much more needs to be said about the drawbacks of this version - fewer courses than the xbox version, fewer game modes. I’d like to say that the game is still a decent way to spend a few hours. The graphics look way better than the previous generation, there are regular tournaments on Xbox Live, and it has all the modes I would realistically expect from a golf game. The one gripe is the use of the Left Bumper for the power shot and spin button - this requires some finger acrobatics for a right handed person and can frustratingly interfere with the swing. All in all, worth a play, especially at the bargain prices this is now available at. For a full price game, go for the 07 version, which has more features and better controls and targetting.

Far Cry Instincts: Predator (Xbox 360) In a nutshell:
Hapless antihero Jack Carver starts on his first ever Xbox 360 adventure, featuring advanced graphics and enemy artificial intelligence that rival even the original PC version.

The lowdown:
More than any other first person shooter the Far Cry games have been a perverse combination of beautiful graphics (in this case a gorgeous tropical island) and uncompromising violence. This new Xbox 360 version includes a revamped version of the highly rated Xbox game, as well as an all-new expansion named Evolution. You start Evolution with all the bestial powers you gained in Instincts, including one hit kills and night vision, and as you’d expect the graphics have been given a serious overhaul - not just in terms of resolution but also the complexity and detail of everything in the game from enemy soldiers to the beautifully rolling sea.

Most exciting moment:
Taking out bad guys from your jet ski as you use it to jump ashore, run into the jungle, and quickly set-up a booby trap to stop pursuing bad guys.

Since you ask:
The new single player campaign Evolution will also be made available for the Xbox as a budget priced stand alone expansion.

The bottom line:
The best looking console Far Cry yet, with almost two games in one.- Harrison Dent
Customer Review: In parts can be the most fun xbox game I’ve played
Now, I had the Original Far Cry for the PC and that game was fantastic. Great gameplay, gorgeous environments and a large sense of freedom. First Person Shooters had always been about dark and gloomy factory corridors and other boring environments. It gave you fun gameplay in an environment that you’d naturally want to explore and play in regardless.

Skip to Far Cry Instincts: Predator. A port from the Original xbox game, as it failed to meet the backwards compatibility list. Taking the Far Cry core mechanics and adding a bunch of feral powers such as Extreme running, tracking by smell and a lethal claw attack. These additions can be huge amounts of fun both on/offline. The game includes the original Instincts storyline and adds a second story mode called evolution. This extends the life of the game and gives you quite a lot for your money.

The Online mode is pretty fun. Predator mode, where one person is a feral beast with all the powers against a group of helpless mercenaries. Included with depth map editor that can be a lot of fun to use online, aswell as the actual building.

To sum it up..

I loved the original Far Cry. This game doesn’t quite feel like the original, it loses something in the process. BUT it adds so much more and can be great fun just like the original. If you had the original xbox game, there isn’t enough here to have paid the full release price, but for a cheaper price is worth checking out. Are you a fan of FPS games? If so you owe it to yourself to play this game. It’s been a highly underrated xbox 360 title and I would advise anyone to make their own decision about it, rather than accepting some of the dire reviews.
Customer Review: Best to avoid
Personnel opinion but this is a godawfull game, the AI is incredibly and stupid and the way the game plays is so ugly and repetitive. It would seem that the only thing going for it is the graphics which are very pretty but thats about it. Also playing the through the single player, the AI has the very annoying ability to always know exactly where you are, even hiding behind buildings and plantation

Would honestly save the money and buy dead rising or better yet splintercell (better graphics and more fun than this)

Sorry but a big thumbs down for this
