Skate (PS3)
Customer Review: This game rocks!
Have to agree with everyone here. This is EASILY the best skateboarding game out bar none.
The controls do take a bit of getting used to if you’re used to button bashing on the Tony Hawks series, but within an hour i was used to it and popping kickflip to 50-50 grinds down stair rails. It feels SO natural.
It does, however, have a few minor flaws.
The camera angle. Sometimes you cannot see where you’re going because the camera is so low, and so close to your skater. Theres no way to change this.
Lag/Gameplay slow down. Every now and again the game will get a little slow. No idea why but it usually sorts it’s self out after a few seconds.
Career mode. Career mode is a little difficult due to the flickit system, some tricks are hard to pull off, meaning you have to try the same challenge over and over and over. Feels good when you finally do nail it though.
Other then that, this is THE best skating game i’ve ever played. 5 out of 5 from me.
Buy it!
Customer Review: The best skateboarding game ever !
Button mashing is over. Skate has completely reinvented skateboarding games by the use of the flickit control system. On tony hawks you would think nothing of trying to leap a gap or grind a rail, but on skate you have to line yourself perfectly then flick the right analogue stick quickly to gain height to ollie and turn your body in the direction to grind down it. This makes the game feel more realistic and add new ways of doing tricks. Instead of going from place to place you have the whole huge city of san vanelona to explore with plenty of areas to skate on which adds to more freedom.
You have to start off by doing skateboarding films to get coverage in the local skate mag to get coverage. You then get asked to skate 4 thrasher which gives you money and sponsership to getting better skateboards, wheels and clothing and eventually leads you to face the pros in the x-games. There are a variety of objectives such as photo coverage, filming, skateboarding races and playing a game of skate which gets u to take it in turns against a pro to beat the at tricks.
This game is so much better than Tony hawks.

Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)
In the end it will probably be to the benefit of European gamers that the PS3 was delayed, since it will give Sony the chance to put together a much more impressive line-up of launch games than greeted the console in America and Japan. Resistance was easily the best of the U.S. launch games - a first person shoot `em-up from the creators of Ratchet & Clank. The game’s story is based around an alternate version of World War II where instead of Nazis you’re facing off against the insect-like Chimera in a war torn Britain (naturally you’re playing an American though). It’s basically Call Of Duty meets Doom.
The game doesn’t use the tilt sensors of the Sixaxis controller for movement but it does demonstrate the improved build quality of the analogue sticks, which previously made first person shooters difficult on the PS2. The tilt sensors are used in a variety of secondary roles though, such as when you have to shake off a monster or if you get set on fire. Despite the faux WWII setting, most of the game’s weapons are fantastical and, as with Ratchet & Clank, are probably the highlight of the whole game. All have secondary fire modes, from grenade launchers to homing bullets. The armour piercing Auger for example, also doubles as a shield. There are also vehicle based sections, including a particularly fun ride in an almost indestructible tank.
Although the single player game is well above average, the criticism about the sometimes generic art and design are not entirely without foundation. Thankfully this is compensated by an excellent forty person online mode - a huge achievement for a launch game and a very good sign for future online PS3 games.

Customer Review: Amazing!
I love Resistance. The game really has heaps of things to do and os overall a great package. Great AI, great graphics, the real eerie feeling of invasion against the UK by alien beings, loads of action, brilliant level design and excellent enemies. Loved every second of the game and would highly reccomend it to anyone with a PS3.
Customer Review: Different in a bad way.
The first thing that comes into mind when you play this is “call of duty 3″, but then it goes worse by having enemies that can use cover (like GoW) but you’re left kneeling behind cover that is just too short! Another thing that I really HATE about this game is the levels themselves. No objectives and you’r squadmates all die straight away. Brings to mind Halo. Levels also make you go search for the next part of the level, like you just kill a bunch of the aliens and then thats it. You have to wonder around for ACTUALLY 10mins to find the next part of the map. Overall its ok graphics wise but the single player and coop tend to make you sigh in relief at the ability to ask for a refund for the game.

Heavenly Sword (PS3)
In a nutshell:
Amongst all the games that were actually playable on the PS3 at the recent E3 event in Los Angeles this was the most impressive, both in terms of gameplay and graphics. Not only that but it’s a completely original game, not a sequel or a remake.
The lowdown:
Already nicknamed by some as Goddess of War, due to its apparent similarities to PS2 game God of War, the storyline of the game is unclear but it features a typically attractive and super skilled martial arts heroine as she knocks seven bells out of a stream of ninja like bad guys. The various moves look stunning, in particular an eye-watering groin attack aimed at the male enemies (the game features motion capture by Gollum and King Kong actor Andy Serkis). The E3 demo level takes place in a small, and completely destructible, arena but other test footage shows an expansive and impressively realistic looking game world to explore and demolish.
Most exciting moment:
Towards the end of the demo the game segues into a QTE (quick time event) sequence where you have to tap the buttons according to icons flashed onscreen, which sees you performing even more outrageous stunts and attacks.
Since you ask:
Developers Ninja Theory used to be known as Just Add Monsters, under which name they made comedy beat ???em-up Kung Fu Chaos for the Xbox.
The bottom line:
The best looking, and playing, game so far on the PS3.

Customer Review: Instant Classic
O.K. put simply, this game is ‘near’ perfect. Great visuals, scenery is stunning, characters are lifelike, Nariko, the heroine of the game is beautiful, athletic, smart & very strong (character-wise). The story is top notch, the villains are downright cruel & authentic. Gameplay is superb, particularly Nariko’s martial arts fighting skills. I don’t about anybody else but I feel quite omnipotent while playing this game. I felt a real difference when I first aquired the Heavenly Sword. On the negative side its a little on the short side, but acceptable nonetheless. Also when you complete the game & replay a chapter sometimes the lip-sync is a little off, but overall, I’m incredibly impressed. Can’t wait for the TWO sequels. Oh, one more thing, this game was the reason I bought a PlayStation3 in the first place, I was not disappointed.
Customer Review: Celestial, action adventure with stunning graphics
I bought this game with my console, Resistance Fall of Man and Enchanted Arms;this easily outshines those two titles. Heavenly Sword is up there with the best PS3 games. Graphically the game plays like some sort of visual, divine treat. Heavenly Sword benefits from extensive cutscenes that help progress the storyline. The cutscenes look cinematic and are complimented by fine voice acting. The cutscene where Bohan and Shen are preparing their sides for the final battle is particularly stirring, almost Shakespearian in quality providing an apt contrast between Good and Evil. The storyline is well devised with interesting characters; Bohan’s main henchmen General Flying Fox, Roach and Whiptail form a weird and menacing group. Whilst, Nariko and Bohan are two commanding lead characters. Combat is a mainstay of Heavenly Sword and it doesn’t disappoint. Nariko seems to dance around the screen inflicting death and deliverance both effortlessly and gracefully. Nariko utilises 3 modes of combat:Speed, Power and Distance. Each stance has its own combos available for you to master such as the devestating Heavenly Storm. There are also Superstyle attacks that allow you to perform Instant Kills. Furthermore, the Sixaxis controller is used innovatively in order to control the flight of ammunition. This can take a while to master but it’s good fun to control arrows along improbable flight angles, to have them end up jutting out of your opponents head or alternative extremities. I didn’t find Heavenly Sword as easy as has been made out either so I definitely got value for money from this title. The Sixaxis flight control sections are tough and the combos need to be mastered in order to speed progression. Furthermore, as in Residen Evil 4 you have some sort of live action button to contend with, if you’re not quick enough to replicate the correct button on screen, this can result in instantaneous death. As you progress through the game you unlock more combos and Special features such as artwork. Once you complete the game you unlock the Hell Mode option. To conclude, this is an excellent game that is fun to play and great to view for its cinematic quality.
