Customer Review: DON’T BUY IT
Argumentative, Impossible to upgrade and nothing but hassle. i) Randomly quits during conversions. ii) Due to copyright protection laws, this software CAN’T import copy protected DVD’s, and since all commercial DVD’s are copy protected, it’s pointless. iii) The website is IMPOSSIBLE to log onto, once you’ve registered the product, that’s it, you’ll never be able to log on again., and since you have to log onto the website to download updates, you’ll be stuck with the version in the box! iv) Support is USELESS all they say is “refer to the manual”! v) WILL NOT work with Windows based formats such as WMV! To cut a long story short, it’s USELESS!

Customer Review: Pretty darn good
It’s got to be said that since F197 games developers have had a shocker in putting such a popular sport into a good, playable and realistic game. Look no further than this offering. Granted, it’s last years driver set (i.e. no Hamilton), however in all categories I really rate this game. The graphics are very fair for the PSP standard (think equal to Pro Evo for example), and its only occasionally that there’s a bit of lag… usually when you crasah into the back of a car by not braking adequately! Gameplay is relayed by a very responsive and realistic car handling set up - drivers aids for beginners and an extensive manual car tuning option for the specialists. Race days are peppered by on-track incidents, and qualifying sessions always hold a risk of rain! In summary, a very playable and detailed game. N.B. the career mode is purely driving i.e there is no ‘Chief Engineer mode’ that is advertised
Customer Review: very good handheld f1 game
This is a good handheld game of F1! This has some pretty decent graphics in the game and the handling of the car is quite good. The only downfall I have is no WiFi and laoding times suck!

Customer Review: Sceptical at first, but turned out to be one of the best films I’ve ever seen! :)
Having not seen this film at the cinema, prior to DVD release I was sceptical about purchasing Casino Royale. I had heard some postive reviews but also some negative ones as well, saying that Daneil Craig just doesn’t fit the bill. I totally disagree, I think Craig has played Bond in this film beautifully. Ok - so in this film theres no gadgets as in previous films -but remember this film is set as Bond has just recieved his 00 status! Don’t expect too many flashy gagdets. Overall, a great film thats funny, packed with action. UMD Plays perfectly - no quibbles there.

Customer Review: Pro DEvolution 2008
I’ll be honest, when I first got into football games on to consoles, the first one I owned was FIFA International Soccer for the SNES. Although dated, isometric and unofficial, the game was a pretty good experience. It showed me that as long as the game was fun to play, that alone could overcome some of the game’s short comings.

I was a FIFA fanboy up until 2005 (on my Gamecube, yes, I stayed loyal to Nintendo too) when after being “forced” to play the so-called enemy, Pro Evo, I was hooked. The game lacked a licence and didn’t have the hundreds of teams FIFA offered, but instead, went for the more realistic approach to the game, it was more fluent, goals required actual skill and was an overall more satisfying experience.

I eventually gave up on FIFA and ended up for the next two years buying a second hand PS2 just to play Pro Evo 5 & 6. When the next gen consoles came along, I went with the PS3 and I eagerly awaited Pro Evo 2008. I hoped that the game would have the near-perfect of the original games with the added bonus of crisp, high-definition graphics with a better online mode.

So, come late October, Pro Evo 2008 was released, I knew it had a lot to live up to, despite turning on FIFA, I actually enjoyed FIFA 08 despite some problems but still deep down knew it would be well and truly trounced by it’s counter-part.

Sadly, my hopes came crashing down, along with mine and many others.

Pro Evo 2008 to bluntly put it, shouldn’t have been released. This isn’t just my opinion, this is a lot of people’s, including its creator, Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka who has stated the game shouldn’t of but had to be released. If that hasn’t warned you of the bashing this game will get, then this message should.

The most important part of Pro-Evo is the gameplay. The PS2’s titles although had a few ningles, we’re pretty much flawless. Although it has transcended well, a few too many bits and pieces haven’t. Controls are exactly the same as before (which is fine if you’ve played Pro Evo before, but newer players will pick it up in time too). There’s a few new features, one of which is diving, which will either cause you to jump for joy after winning a penalty, or feel like killing your system if the game does the same to you. The A.I for your opposition is alright, it still hard to score and if you make a good set piece, then chances are you weren’t lucky and you generally did a good job.

The referee however seems to be in a time warp and has gone back to the ways of Pro Evo 4, in that, he hands out cards like breaths of air. Seriously, unless you do a slide tackle from the front and win the ball, chances are, your player could be sent off. In a multiplayer game I had, I had 3 players sent off for fairly normal tackles (in Football, a contact sport, keep that in mind) whilst my friend had 4 players kicked off for similar challenges, normally straight reds. It might be Konami’s way of making sure slide-tackles are used to a minimum and discourage players from using them in the real world, but sometimes, when it’s needed and it’s a slight mistake, you’d think they’d be a bit more lenient.

Looks wise, although this is the PS3 (which has had a pretty mix card in its first year) and although it’s Pro Evo, I did expect a bit more bling for my buck. Sadly, the game just doesn’t cut it. Even on a Hi-Def TV, it still looks pretty poor. Pitches look drab, the crowd looks pretty poor (which it always did, just now, you’d expect they’d have the power to perhaps, touch it up). Some players look like their real life counter-parts, but for others, it will be a complete guessing game and it can be pretty distracting.

Speaking of distracting, how about we add a bit of lag to the experience? Yep, Pro Evo, famed for its fluency and well paced action, has now replaced it with slowdown and lag. Some stadiums are worse then others, but replays, many players on screen (e.g. corners and battles in the middle of the pitch) and online have suffered tremendously. Luckily a patch has just been released which does cure most of these problems, but online is still pretty much unplayable and the odd problem still happens offline.

Overall, Pro Evolution 2008 is the start of Konami’s venture into next-gen consoles (you could include last years since PE6 was on the Xbox 360, but since there was no PS3 or Wii versions, it’s the first game with all next-gen platforms) and it’s gone pretty downhill. Instead of just updating PE6 with fancy graphics, some new moves and an updated roster, something else happened and this is the end result. It’s done some good things, but as a whole, its a very disappointing experience and not worthy of buying (which is evident with the recent price dropping). If you want a real football experience on your console, keep PE6 and wait until next year, if your that bothered for a next gen football game, FIFA 08 is your only other option, which after this travesty, doesn’t seem that bad anymore.

Skate (PS3)

Skate (PS3)
Customer Review: This game rocks!
Have to agree with everyone here. This is EASILY the best skateboarding game out bar none.

The controls do take a bit of getting used to if you’re used to button bashing on the Tony Hawks series, but within an hour i was used to it and popping kickflip to 50-50 grinds down stair rails. It feels SO natural.

It does, however, have a few minor flaws.

The camera angle. Sometimes you cannot see where you’re going because the camera is so low, and so close to your skater. Theres no way to change this.

Lag/Gameplay slow down. Every now and again the game will get a little slow. No idea why but it usually sorts it’s self out after a few seconds.

Career mode. Career mode is a little difficult due to the flickit system, some tricks are hard to pull off, meaning you have to try the same challenge over and over and over. Feels good when you finally do nail it though.

Other then that, this is THE best skating game i’ve ever played. 5 out of 5 from me.

Buy it!

Customer Review: The best skateboarding game ever !
Button mashing is over. Skate has completely reinvented skateboarding games by the use of the flickit control system. On tony hawks you would think nothing of trying to leap a gap or grind a rail, but on skate you have to line yourself perfectly then flick the right analogue stick quickly to gain height to ollie and turn your body in the direction to grind down it. This makes the game feel more realistic and add new ways of doing tricks. Instead of going from place to place you have the whole huge city of san vanelona to explore with plenty of areas to skate on which adds to more freedom.

You have to start off by doing skateboarding films to get coverage in the local skate mag to get coverage. You then get asked to skate 4 thrasher which gives you money and sponsership to getting better skateboards, wheels and clothing and eventually leads you to face the pros in the x-games. There are a variety of objectives such as photo coverage, filming, skateboarding races and playing a game of skate which gets u to take it in turns against a pro to beat the at tricks.

This game is so much better than Tony hawks.

Assassin’s Creed (PS3)

Assassin’s Creed (PS3)
It’s easy to see why there was so much fighting amongst the console manufacturers to try and make this game a format exclusive. Where early launch titles may have disappointed this game not only looks like a next generation game but it plays like it too. Taken at face value the story casts you as an Arabic fighter in 1191, out to assassinate the nine Western leaders of the Third Crusade. There is more to the story than that though making it more than simple historical adventure it first seems.

Since it’s developed by many of the same team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, it’s no surprise to find the game using many of the same ideas. With the bold claim that you can climb on or over anything in the game world that sticks out more than two inches, this allows incredible freedom of movement, with a style of acrobatics heavily influenced by Parkour/free running. The game also innovates in terms of combat, with each of the face buttons controlling a different area of the body, rather like a marionette. As such one button controls the feet, one your open hand, one your weapon hand and the other your head.

As an assassin stealth plays an important role in the game too, but here it’s often a case of hiding in plain sight as you mill around inside large crowds of people. Everyone will react to you realistically though, so if you go around pushing people out of the way, or even killing them, the crowd will react and report you. With stunning graphics and genuinely innovative gameplay this is destined to be one of the most important releases of the year.
HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: Over-hyped, but worth playing.
Needless to say this game is very repetitive compared to those of similiar genre. Climb up a view point, complete 2-3 missions and assassinate the target. Yeah, that is the concept of the game. The environment is very beautiful and well-detailed, however, and the world is very interactive. Unfortunately the game loses much of its potential, thanks to Ubisoft’s sloppy plot design.

Moreover, the Xbox 360 version is better. It may have a slightly lower framerate, but there are no vsync issues (screen tearing, whereas PS3 version suffers from this issue, a lot.

If you don’t mind playing the most repetitive game out there for PS3, go ahead and buy it.

Customer Review: PS3 Christmas Turkey
Avoid at all costs…

Seriously, it’s repetition city. If the games producer spent more quality time on the game instead of promoting herself we might have had something to shout about.

Save your money for Drake Uncharted.

Spider-Man 2 [UMD Mini for PSP] [2004]
More than a few critics hailed Spider-Man 2 as “the best superhero movie ever,” and there’s no compelling reason to argue–thanks to a bigger budget, better special effects, and a dynamic, character-driven plot, it’s a notch above Spider-Man in terms of emotional depth and rich comic-book sensibility. Ordinary People Oscar?-winner Alvin Sargent received screenplay credit, and celebrated author and comic-book expert Michael Chabon worked on the story, but it’s director Sam Raimi’s affinity for the material that brings Spidey 2 to vivid life. When a fusion experiment goes terribly wrong, a brilliant physicist (Alfred Molina) is turned into Spidey’s newest nemesis, the deranged, mechanically tentacled “Doctor Octopus,” obsessed with completing his experiment and killing Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) in the process. Even more compelling is Peter Parker’s urgent dilemma: continue his burdensome, lonely life of crime-fighting as Spider-Man, or pursue love and happiness with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst)? Molina’s outstanding as a tragic villain controlled by his own invention, and the action sequences are nothing less than breathtaking, but the real success of Spider-Man 2 is its sense of priorities. With all of Hollywood’s biggest and best toys at his disposal, Raimi and his writers stay true to the Marvel mythology, honoring Spider-Man creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and setting the bar impressively high for the challenge of Spider-Man 3. –Jeff Shannon

HDMI Cable (PS3) Customer Review: Works for me
I have a Samsung LE32R41BD TV and this HDMI cable absolutely works fine at 720p and 1080i (I don’t have a 1080p tv).

This cable does not support 760p or 1080i with my LE32R87BDX Samsung LCD TV. It only supports 576p at first I thought my TV was not HD but on buying a Sony 1.3A HDMI CABLE I am now operating at 1080i and the PS3 Games are unreal!!!

Hi-capacity Battery Pack (PSP)
Price: ?29.99
Customer Review: Does the job
This battery is fine. It does what is says, longer battery life than the one provided with the PSP. However, i bought mine not as a replacement battery, but as an extra one for when i went on holiday via COACH! It was fine, no problems at all, the only slight negative was that it was difficult to take out of the PSP,i found that i had to use a coin to lever it out. In comparison, the PSP battery provided when you first buy the PSP is easier to take out but has less battery life. The battery doesn’t hinder holding the PSP and doesn’t give off electric shocks or anything like that so overall a very sound product.

Well, theres not much to say about a memory card. I admit it is quite costly but remember, this is the gadget you need to hold a decent collection of mp3’s, videos etc. I found that Amazon have the cheapest price for this. All I can really say, is that it works, and for what it does, it’s worth the money at the end of the day.

Terminator 3 - Rise Of The Machines [UMD Mini for PSP] [2003]
With a reported budget of $172 million, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines starts in high gear and never slows down. The apocalyptic “Judgment Day” of Terminator 2 was never prevented, only postponed: John Connor (Nick Stahl, replacing T2’s Edward Furlong), now 22 and disconnected from society, is being pursued yet again, this time by the advanced T-X, a sleek “Terminatrix” (coldly expressionless Kristanna Loken) programmed to stop Connor from becoming the saviour of humankind. Originally programmed as an assassin, a disadvantaged T-101 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger, bidding fond farewell to his signature role) arrives from the future to join Connor and his old acquaintance Kate (Claire Danes) in thwarting the T-X’s relentless pursuit. The plot presents a logical fulfillment of T2 prophesy, disposing of Connor’s mother (Linda Hamilton is sorely missed) while computer-driven machines assume control, launching a nuclear nightmare that Connor must survive. With Breakdown and U-571 serving as worthy rehearsals for this cautionary epic of mass destruction, director Jonathan Mostow wisely avoids any stylistic connection to James Cameron’s Terminator classics; instead he’s crafted a fun, exciting popcorn thriller, humorous and yet still effectively nihilistic, and comparable to Jurassic Park III in returning the Terminator franchise to its potent B-movie roots. –Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

Spider-Man [UMD Mini for PSP] [2002]
For devoted fans and non-fans alike, Spider-Man offers nothing less–and nothing more–than what you’d expect from a superhero blockbuster. Having proven his comic-book savvy with the original Darkman, director Sam Raimi brings ample energy and enthusiasm to Spidey’s origin story, nicely establishing high-school nebbish Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) as a brainy outcast who reacts with appropriate euphoria–and well-tempered maturity–when a “super-spider” bite transforms him into the amazingly agile, web-shooting Spider-Man. That’s all well and good, and so is Kirsten Dunst as Parker’s girl-next-door sweetheart. Where Spider-Man falls short is in its hyperactive CGI action sequences, which play like a video game instead of the gravity-defying exploits of a flesh-and-blood superhero. Willem Dafoe is perfectly cast as Spidey’s schizoid nemesis, the Green Goblin, and the movie’s a lot of fun overall. It’s no match for Superman and Batman in bringing a beloved character to the screen, but it places a respectable third. –Jeff Shannon
