Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS3)??
With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.

Customer Review: Completey fixed!!!
Although the game did suffer from lag slightly offline and massively online, the new patch which can be downloaded when starting the game has completely fixed it!! paving the way now for one of the best pro ev games if not the best, the passing is so slick and beating a defender is alot easier than recent years, the true pro ev and indeed football fans will now get to play the finest football game, one word superb!!!
Customer Review: Pro DEvolution 2008
I’ll be honest, when I first got into football games on to consoles, the first one I owned was FIFA International Soccer for the SNES. Although dated, isometric and unofficial, the game was a pretty good experience. It showed me that as long as the game was fun to play, that alone could overcome some of the game’s short comings. I was a FIFA fanboy up until 2005 (on my Gamecube, yes, I stayed loyal to Nintendo too) when after being “forced” to play the so-called enemy, Pro Evo, I was hooked. The game lacked a licence and didn’t have the hundreds of teams FIFA offered, but instead, went for the more realistic approach to the game, it was more fluent, goals required actual skill and was an overall more satisfying experience. I eventually gave up on FIFA and ended up for the next two years buying a second hand PS2 just to play Pro Evo 5 & 6. When the next gen consoles came along, I went with the PS3 and I eagerly awaited Pro Evo 2008. I hoped that the game would have the near-perfect of the original games with the added bonus of crisp, high-definition graphics with a better online mode. So, come late October, Pro Evo 2008 was released, I knew it had a lot to live up to, despite turning on FIFA, I actually enjoyed FIFA 08 despite some problems but still deep down knew it would be well and truly trounced by it’s counter-part. Sadly, my hopes came crashing down, along with mine and many others. Pro Evo 2008 to bluntly put it, shouldn’t have been released. This isn’t just my opinion, this is a lot of people’s, including its creator, Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka who has stated the game shouldn’t of but had to be released. If that hasn’t warned you of the bashing this game will get, then this message should. The most important part of Pro-Evo is the gameplay. The PS2’s titles although had a few ningles, we’re pretty much flawless. Although it has transcended well, a few too many bits and pieces haven’t. Controls are exactly the same as before (which is fine if you’ve played Pro Evo before, but newer players will pick it up in time too). There’s a few new features, one of which is diving, which will either cause you to jump for joy after winning a penalty, or feel like killing your system if the game does the same to you. The A.I for your opposition is alright, it still hard to score and if you make a good set piece, then chances are you weren’t lucky and you generally did a good job. The referee however seems to be in a time warp and has gone back to the ways of Pro Evo 4, in that, he hands out cards like breaths of air. Seriously, unless you do a slide tackle from the front and win the ball, chances are, your player could be sent off. In a multiplayer game I had, I had 3 players sent off for fairly normal tackles (in Football, a contact sport, keep that in mind) whilst my friend had 4 players kicked off for similar challenges, normally straight reds. It might be Konami’s way of making sure slide-tackles are used to a minimum and discourage players from using them in the real world, but sometimes, when it’s needed and it’s a slight mistake, you’d think they’d be a bit more lenient. Looks wise, although this is the PS3 (which has had a pretty mix card in its first year) and although it’s Pro Evo, I did expect a bit more bling for my buck. Sadly, the game just doesn’t cut it. Even on a Hi-Def TV, it still looks pretty poor. Pitches look drab, the crowd looks pretty poor (which it always did, just now, you’d expect they’d have the power to perhaps, touch it up). Some players look like their real life counter-parts, but for others, it will be a complete guessing game and it can be pretty distracting. Speaking of distracting, how about we add a bit of lag to the experience? Yep, Pro Evo, famed for its fluency and well paced action, has now replaced it with slowdown and lag. Some stadiums are worse then others, but replays, many players on screen (e.g. corners and battles in the middle of the pitch) and online have suffered tremendously. Luckily a patch has just been released which does cure most of these problems, but online is still pretty much unplayable and the odd problem still happens offline. Overall, Pro Evolution 2008 is the start of Konami’s venture into next-gen consoles (you could include last years since PE6 was on the Xbox 360, but since there was no PS3 or Wii versions, it’s the first game with all next-gen platforms) and it’s gone pretty downhill. Instead of just updating PE6 with fancy graphics, some new moves and an updated roster, something else happened and this is the end result. It’s done some good things, but as a whole, its a very disappointing experience and not worthy of buying (which is evident with the recent price dropping). If you want a real football experience on your console, keep PE6 and wait until next year, if your that bothered for a next gen football game, FIFA 08 is your only other option, which after this travesty, doesn’t seem that bad anymore.

Skate (PS3) Customer Review: This game rocks!
Have to agree with everyone here. This is EASILY the best skateboarding game out bar none.

The controls do take a bit of getting used to if you’re used to button bashing on the Tony Hawks series, but within an hour i was used to it and popping kickflip to 50-50 grinds down stair rails. It feels SO natural.

It does, however, have a few minor flaws.

The camera angle. Sometimes you cannot see where you’re going because the camera is so low, and so close to your skater. Theres no way to change this.

Lag/Gameplay slow down. Every now and again the game will get a little slow. No idea why but it usually sorts it’s self out after a few seconds.

Career mode. Career mode is a little difficult due to the flickit system, some tricks are hard to pull off, meaning you have to try the same challenge over and over and over. Feels good when you finally do nail it though.

Other then that, this is THE best skating game i’ve ever played. 5 out of 5 from me.

Buy it!

Customer Review: The best skateboarding game ever !
Button mashing is over. Skate has completely reinvented skateboarding games by the use of the flickit control system. On tony hawks you would think nothing of trying to leap a gap or grind a rail, but on skate you have to line yourself perfectly then flick the right analogue stick quickly to gain height to ollie and turn your body in the direction to grind down it. This makes the game feel more realistic and add new ways of doing tricks. Instead of going from place to place you have the whole huge city of san vanelona to explore with plenty of areas to skate on which adds to more freedom.
You have to start off by doing skateboarding films to get coverage in the local skate mag to get coverage. You then get asked to skate 4 thrasher which gives you money and sponsership to getting better skateboards, wheels and clothing and eventually leads you to face the pros in the x-games. There are a variety of objectives such as photo coverage, filming, skateboarding races and playing a game of skate which gets u to take it in turns against a pro to beat the at tricks.
This game is so much better than Tony hawks.

Like other reviewers here, I could not get this to work with my Sky HD Box. Jabra BT250v - Bluetooth Headset With In Car Charger
Customer Review: Very Compatable With PS3
with no official ps3‘>ps3 headset out atm, and only a madcatz bluetooth headset which has very poor ratings, i decided to have a glance around for a good priced good quality product, and decided to go with this one… well when it arrived i couldn’t be much happier. to get it connected to the ps3‘>ps3 simple follow these steps:

1) charge up the headset for atleast 10 minutes.

2) Open up the ps3‘>ps3 menu

3) Settings -> Accessory Settings -> Register Bluetooth Device

4) Hold the phone icon on the headset for 5 seconds until it lights up with a blue light.

5) Scan -> Select the jabra device -> Enter pin (0000)

once that’s done your set to go, now if you want to use it antime just hold the phone icon to turn it on :)
Customer Review: best one yet
Like many other gamers ive been waiting for an official PS3 headset to hit the shops and was fed up not knowing when one would be released. Ive seen loads of differnt reviews on unofficial headsets and how faulty or uncompatible they are with the PS3 but, this product has no flaws. Ive been using it none stop online with great, crisp communication with other players. Simple to set up and easy to use with a good amount of battery life and fantastic value for money! I advise any PS3 owners to buy this product!!

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (PS3)
With the Hitman series already well established, Danish developer Io Interactive are not exactly masters of the family friendly game. This latest effort is their most violent and shocking yet, as you take control of reluctant mercenary Kane and his schizophrenic partner Lynch. Neither character likes the other but for the purposes of the story they have to work together in a series of violent third person shoot outs. By default you control Kane, with the computer or another player taking on the role of Lynch. As the game progress you will also be able to recruit a team of up to eight mercenaries, with your reputation determining the quality of the personnel applying for the job. Ordering your squad around is easy enough but since any of them, particularly Lynch, can have completely different objectives to you, they won’t always take orders - particularly if they’ve taken a dislike to you already - which is a real problem when you want them to administer some first aid.

Although it is much more action packed than the Hitman games, there are obviously similarities between the two games, with highly interactive environments and multiple ways to approach any problem. One particular highlight already demonstrated involves a kidnapping at a rave with Kane & Lynch firing into the air to disperse a large crowd of dancers before engaging in a brutal gun battle with security guards, as the sound and music system continues to flash and blare. If the rest of the game is just as inventive with its scenarios then Io may well keep Kane and Lynch alive for a little longer.

The Simpsons (PS3)

The Simpsons (PS3)
Customer Review: The Simpsons (PS3)
For a Simpsons console game its quite good, even managing to preserve something of the humour from the shows

Customer Review: fun to be had if you perservere
Like many Simpsons fans out there, I was hoping that this would be the title to turn it around for America’s favorite animated family in the video game arena. With two-player co-op and a focus on the humor that has made the show a primetime staple since 1989, The Simpsons Game has everything a fan could want…but not everything it needs to be a fun, interesting game.

The biggest problem is illustrated through one of the game’s funniest features: the clich?. As you jump and punch your way through each mission, you will encounter hackneyed video game traditions like giant saw blades and pressure pads. Then the Comic Book Guy pops up and calls attention to the blatant unoriginality of these devices (”Ah, the crate. As seen in everything.”). While this almost always gets a laugh, pointing out clich?s doesn’t make them any more fun to play.

The development team clearly knew that basic switch puzzles and time trials are tiresome, yet the player is forced to endure them. Even though the goals themselves are sometimes funny, the generic combat and platforming rarely make them fun to complete. There are also dozens of stupid collectibles like coupons and bottlecaps scattered throughout the world. Trust me, they are not worth picking up.

I know that I’m not making the game sound great - it isn’t - but the important distinction here is unlike most mediocre platformers, you are actually rewarded for bullying through the levels. The comedy is so pervasive and well done that it still makes you want to keep going just to hear a good one-liner or see the next hilarious parody. This is the first licensed game I’ve seen that captures the essence of its source material so well; it sometimes feels like you are playing an episode of the show (albeit with poor cinematography).

For all of its self-referential humour and nods to gaming classics (there are brief segments mimicking the likes of Frogger, Missle Command, Space Invaders, and Wolfenstein 3D), the process of actually playing The Simpsons Game is unfortunately average. The chuckles along the way make it worth the trouble for fans, but unless you’re the most ardent Simpson’s fan then of the game’s redeeming elements will fall on deaf, bored ears.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3)
Insomniac Games has overhauled its proprietary PS3 engine technology to create the most visceral Ratchet & Clank universe yet, overflowing with exotic creatures and flying vehicles.

The PS3 system’s superior power enables Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to bring vivid worlds to life with increased draw distances, enhanced lighting and shadowing, and more fluid and exaggerated animations.

Discover an all-new galaxy spanning vast worlds such as a majestic cloud city and a space-age amusement park.

Encounter an entirely new cast of expressive characters (and some old favorites) as well as the introduction of a variety of new alien races and life forms.

Experience a more emotive Ratchet with nearly as many animation joints in his face as PS2 Ratchet had in his entire body. This joint density applies to many of the characters featured in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, enabling more detailed, personable and expressive characters.

Clank returns as a playable character, and Ratchet will have new enhanced abilities.

Fire a fully stocked arsenal of all-new weapons such as the Plasma Beasts and Tornado Launcher, which uses the Sixaxis controller to direct tornadoes that suck up enemies and whip them around with debris.

Use the Sixaxis controller to maneuver, destroy enemies and solve puzzles.

Upgrade and customize weapons with a new system that provides greater power and flexibility. Players also will have the ability to upgrade Ratchet’s armor.

Utilise Ratchet’s new supply of consumable “on-demand’ combat devices, such as the Groovitron, which causes enemies to dance uncontrollably to ’70s disco hits.

Gadgets gameplay returns as Ratchet and Clank will have more gadgets at their disposal to help them bounce, fly, evade and defy gravity.

Pilot Ratchet’s ship through asteroid fields while trying to destroy enemy fleets in a complete redesign of classic Ratchet & Clank space combat gameplay.

Customer Review: Very High Quality Entertainment. *****
I got my PS3 on launch day and Motorstorm aside this is: as said by another reviewer on amazon: The first must have title on the PS3. If you have played the PS2 ratchet and clank games then you would be forgiven for thinking that this is more of the same. Which it is and isent. This is ratchet and clank with bells, whistle’s and all that! This game looks great on a standard tv and beautiful on an HD tv. I have both types of tv; but where this game comes into its own is gameplay. Smooth and fast gameplay with puzzles and combat. I downloaded the demo of this game on the ps3‘>ps3 network and after the endless stream of rubbish that the PS3 has delivered this game not only bucks the trend but puts the trend into hospital! This game is colourful, noisy and fun. The groovetron which makes all enemies stop attacking you and dance saturday night fever style is top draw. Worth the money unlike half of the PS3 rubbish. Dont get me wrong I like the ps3‘>ps3 but sony needs to deliver now and they havent. This game is a big step in readressing the balance. READ THIS SONY and note. Save your overpriced console with some good games and please drop the price……. I know the PS3 is better than the 360 (And I have that too) but the only way to proove this is with quality games like this. Try playing oblivion on a 360 (which I have) and on a ps3‘>ps3 (which my mate has) And the ps3‘>ps3 just delivers unlike the continuous loading/slowdown of the 360 version. Buy Ratchet and clank!
Customer Review: PS3’s standout title so far
I had this on pre-order and received it on the release date. Having played it through fully twice now I can honestly say that it’s one of the most fun titles I’ve played on PS2 or PS3 in a long time. The graphics and sound do the immense power of the PS3 justice and if you’ve played any R&C games on the PS2 you’ll immediately appreciate the enormous step up in quality. The draw distance is phenomenal and the skies are busy with animals and craft. Ballistics and explosions are brilliantly realised and the water effects are second to none. There is no doubting that the developers have unlocked a colour palate untouched so far on the PS3. This is the prettiest game you will play this year. As always there are a plethora of new weapons to unlock, and the classical R&C sense of humour remains. It’s obvious that Insomnia have just been dying to unleash some of these on us for years but haven’t had the processor power to do it. When you see a room full of baddies dancing to DISCO and the flashing lights of the groovetron for the first time it’s tempting to just watch agog at how much is going on on screen and how much attention to detail there is. It’s not perfect; I’ve found it a little easy in places and the difficulty is lower than some of the previous games. There are occasional graphical glitches with bits of smashed boxes seeming to hang in mid air and the occasional monster getting stuck behind bits of landscape. You’d have to be mad to let this sort of thing detract from the sheer immense amount of fun there is to be had though. There’s tons to do, and if you’re the sort who likes to get 100% then you’ll be playing it through at least 3 times before you get all the skill points and unlock everything in the game. Buy this game, you’ll not regret it.

Customer Review: absolutley abysmal
never in my life have i purchased such a mess of an item. Having plugged it into my PS3 upon arrival i was confronted with a blank screen, eventually got it to work with some ‘wiggling’ about but then it would not display 1080p (which is exactly what i bought it for). Being a lazy person i did not send it back and contented myself with 1080i… big mistake. Only two weeks later i was having to wiggle the socket end to get it to display my PS3 on my television every single time i switched my PS3 on. Eventually it stopped working all together and i was just outside the 30 day amazon returns policy. I have no issue with not being able to return it now as that was my own lazy fault, but i do have a problem with the blatant lies this product espouses. If you want to play at 1080p please please please buy another cable, if you want a HDMI cable that lasts more than 4 weeks please buy another cable. I am personally ashamed to have fallen into its trap.
Customer Review: Doesn’t support 1080p
I bought this to connect my ps3‘>ps3 to my Sharp Aquos 1080p tv. However when i tried to select the 1080p resolution in the playstation menu it wouldn’t show on the screen, the highest available resolution was 1080i. I tried with a cable from a different company to check it wasn’t a problem with the ps3‘>ps3 or my tv and it displayed 1080p fine, meaning the problem was with the cable.

Customer Review: Don’t believe the hype !
Couldn’t wait to buy this game having seen the trailers however it did not live up to the hype at all.The graphics are not much better than PS2 standard and after playing Call of Duty 4 they really do look second rate. Controls are also poor. Don’t waste your money !

Call of Duty 4 (PS3) Customer Review: Blows the Competion Away
Wow, take about immersive gameplay, if there was ever a game that makes you jump and hide every time you hear the “clink clink” sound of a grenade landing near your position, this is it. This is what the edge of your sofa was made for.

The graphics, smooth, textured and perfectly lit. finally appear to be one worthy of PS3. The sound, especially in surround is fantastic, this title has stopped me trading my PS3 for an XBOX 360, I was about to lose hope.

Quite simply the best looking, best playing, total immersive FPS money can buy.

Customer Review: Don’t bother if you have Sky HD
Like other reviewers here, I could not get this to work with my Sky HD Box. No problem with the PS3 but I have had to go back to my manual, but cheaper (?25) 4-way Logik switch from Currys that works just fine with all components and does not need power. This Tri-Link Switcher unit is a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY IF YOU HAVE SKY-HD. You have been warned !

Customer Review: This is a raw state
This is a flop. Its not even the official sony controller, so its poorley made, bulkey, heavy and wierd. It costs the same as an official controller as well (shop prices may vary). A bad choice.
Customer Review: Cheap and nasty controller
I too ordered this controller which was included in the ’special deal’ On receipt of same I was dismayed to find it was not the sixaxis that came with my playstation, but a very poor substitute which was totally inferior to the sony controller, I am amazed that amazon would offer such an item, when an original is just a few pounds more -shame on you amazon -I have had to return this ‘rubbish’ and order the ‘real thing’

Customer Review: dont bother buying
all in all from the comments u can see this product is completely useless, in my opinion the best way to help your PS3 to stay cool is to keep it upright, this way the hot air rises to the top of it and is expelled a lot easier with the top fan, also make sure it has room and the heat doesn’t conduct to say for example, DVD/Games cases, your storage unit whatever.. had lots of experience with stuff like this through my custom pc’s
Customer Review: More like a heating fan…
When I 1st saw this product at my local GAME store, I thought; “Great! Something to help my PS3 to cool it’s engines!” But I was wrong.

The 1st thing that really stunned me is this “cooling fan” fits at the back of the PS3. Why is it unusual? Because the only part of the PS3 that really burns up is the (right) side of the console, & I presume it would fit there instead.

Further problems persists when you safely attached the fan to the back of the console (troublesome as you gotta take out all the wires from the PS3 in order to securely click the fan, plus since the PS3 is quite heavy, it doesn’t make it any easier). So to test the fan, inserted a game, barely 5mins in, the console starts breathing heavy air, then another few more minutes, you hear clicking sounds (like 2 plastic sticks batting each other) & to top everything off, the PS3 starts reaking out boiling plastic.

When I switch off my PS3, I checked the side of the console, it was BOILING. Worst than when I didn’t attach the so-called cooling fan. When I detached the fan, it was reaked with the scent of burnt plastic.

I was unlucky that I can’t return my shoddy product (you know those annoying refund guidelines, if you opened it, you can’t return it), so my advice to you do not get this product & save yourself ?15. It doesn’t do your PS3 or your wallet any benefits what so ever…
