Like many Simpsons fans out there, I was hoping that this would be the title to turn it around for America’s favorite animated family in the video game arena. With two-player co-op and a focus on the humor that has made the show a primetime staple since 1989, The Simpsons Game has everything a fan could want…but not everything it needs to be a fun, interesting game. The biggest problem is illustrated through one of the game’s funniest features: the clich?. As you jump and punch your way through each mission, you will encounter hackneyed video game traditions like giant saw blades and pressure pads. Then the Comic Book Guy pops up and calls attention to the blatant unoriginality of these devices (”Ah, the crate. As seen in everything.”). While this almost always gets a laugh, pointing out clich?s doesn’t make them any more fun to play. The development team clearly knew that basic switch puzzles and time trials are tiresome, yet the player is forced to endure them. Even though the goals themselves are sometimes funny, the generic combat and platforming rarely make them fun to complete. There are also dozens of stupid collectibles like coupons and bottlecaps scattered throughout the world. Trust me, they are not worth picking up. I know that I’m not making the game sound great - it isn’t - but the important distinction here is unlike most mediocre platformers, you are actually rewarded for bullying through the levels. The comedy is so pervasive and well done that it still makes you want to keep going just to hear a good one-liner or see the next hilarious parody. This is the first licensed game I’ve seen that captures the essence of its source material so well; it sometimes feels like you are playing an episode of the show (albeit with poor cinematography). For all of its self-referential humour and nods to gaming classics (there are brief segments mimicking the likes of Frogger, Missle Command, Space Invaders, and Wolfenstein 3D), the process of actually playing The Simpsons Game is unfortunately average. The chuckles along the way make it worth the trouble for fans, but unless you’re the most ardent Simpson’s fan then of the game’s redeeming elements will fall on deaf, bored ears.

This is one of the best games I have ever played in my life. It came free with my PS3. My other game is Resistance and I like this one better. Motorstorm contains very realistic graphics, but a bit too realistic and its the less realistic graphics that makes gaming fun. But still it is a very good game and I would recommend anyone to buy it.

Like many other gamers ive been waiting for an official PS3 headset to hit the shops and was fed up not knowing when one would be released. Ive seen loads of differnt reviews on unofficial headsets and how faulty or uncompatible they are with the PS3 but, this product has no flaws. Ive been using it none stop online with great, crisp communication with other players. Simple to set up and easy to use with a good amount of battery life and fantastic value for money! Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS3)?? With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.

Although the game did suffer from lag slightly offline and massively online, the new patch which can be downloaded when starting the game has completely fixed it!! paving the way now for one of the best pro ev games if not the best, the passing is so slick and beating a defender is alot easier than recent years, the true pro ev and indeed football fans will now get to play the finest football game, one word superb!!!

I’ll be honest, when I first got into football games on to consoles, the first one I owned was FIFA International Soccer for the SNES. Although dated, isometric and unofficial, the game was a pretty good experience. It showed me that as long as the game was fun to play, that alone could overcome some of the game’s short comings.

I was a FIFA fanboy up until 2005 (on my Gamecube, yes, I stayed loyal to Nintendo too) when after being “forced” to play the so-called enemy, Pro Evo, I was hooked. The game lacked a licence and didn’t have the hundreds of teams FIFA offered, but instead, went for the more realistic approach to the game, it was more fluent, goals required actual skill and was an overall more satisfying experience.

I eventually gave up on FIFA and ended up for the next two years buying a second hand PS2 just to play Pro Evo 5 & 6. When the next gen consoles came along, I went with the PS3 and I eagerly awaited Pro Evo 2008. I hoped that the game would have the near-perfect of the original games with the added bonus of crisp, high-definition graphics with a better online mode.

So, come late October, Pro Evo 2008 was released, I knew it had a lot to live up to, despite turning on FIFA, I actually enjoyed FIFA 08 despite some problems but still deep down knew it would be well and truly trounced by it’s counter-part.

Sadly, my hopes came crashing down, along with mine and many others.

Pro Evo 2008 to bluntly put it, shouldn’t have been released. This isn’t just my opinion, this is a lot of people’s, including its creator, Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka who has stated the game shouldn’t of but had to be released. If that hasn’t warned you of the bashing this game will get, then this message should.

The most important part of Pro-Evo is the gameplay. The PS2’s titles although had a few ningles, we’re pretty much flawless. Although it has transcended well, a few too many bits and pieces haven’t. Controls are exactly the same as before (which is fine if you’ve played Pro Evo before, but newer players will pick it up in time too). There’s a few new features, one of which is diving, which will either cause you to jump for joy after winning a penalty, or feel like killing your system if the game does the same to you. The A.I for your opposition is alright, it still hard to score and if you make a good set piece, then chances are you weren’t lucky and you generally did a good job.

The referee however seems to be in a time warp and has gone back to the ways of Pro Evo 4, in that, he hands out cards like breaths of air. Seriously, unless you do a slide tackle from the front and win the ball, chances are, your player could be sent off. In a multiplayer game I had, I had 3 players sent off for fairly normal tackles (in Football, a contact sport, keep that in mind) whilst my friend had 4 players kicked off for similar challenges, normally straight reds. It might be Konami’s way of making sure slide-tackles are used to a minimum and discourage players from using them in the real world, but sometimes, when it’s needed and it’s a slight mistake, you’d think they’d be a bit more lenient.

Looks wise, although this is the PS3 (which has had a pretty mix card in its first year) and although it’s Pro Evo, I did expect a bit more bling for my buck. Sadly, the game just doesn’t cut it. Even on a Hi-Def TV, it still looks pretty poor. Pitches look drab, the crowd looks pretty poor (which it always did, just now, you’d expect they’d have the power to perhaps, touch it up). Some players look like their real life counter-parts, but for others, it will be a complete guessing game and it can be pretty distracting.

Speaking of distracting, how about we add a bit of lag to the experience? Yep, Pro Evo, famed for its fluency and well paced action, has now replaced it with slowdown and lag. Some stadiums are worse then others, but replays, many players on screen (e.g. corners and battles in the middle of the pitch) and online have suffered tremendously. Luckily a patch has just been released which does cure most of these problems, but online is still pretty much unplayable and the odd problem still happens offline.

Overall, Pro Evolution 2008 is the start of Konami’s venture into next-gen consoles (you could include last years since PE6 was on the Xbox 360, but since there was no PS3 or Wii versions, it’s the first game with all next-gen platforms) and it’s gone pretty downhill. Instead of just updating PE6 with fancy graphics, some new moves and an updated roster, something else happened and this is the end result. It’s done some good things, but as a whole, its a very disappointing experience and not worthy of buying (which is evident with the recent price dropping). If you want a real football experience on your console, keep PE6 and wait until next year, if your that bothered for a next gen football game, FIFA 08 is your only other option, which after this travesty, doesn’t seem that bad anymore.

In a nutshell:
The most exciting Formula One season for a long time has spawned a console simulation to match with long awaited new online modes and some surprising PSP connectivity options???

The lowdown:
Owning the official FIA license means this game is the only one with all the real 2006 drivers, cars, teams, circuits and rules – but thankfully there’s more to this game than dull simulation. In fact this year’s iteration prides itself on being accessible to everyone with scalable driving aids for every skill level. There’s also a new online version for all versions, where you can compete in a full 18 race season with real human opponents. Other welcome new additions include taking the options of playing as chief engineer through the existing career mode and more subtle change such as computer driven cars that make believable mistakes instead of just robotically keeping to the racing line.

Most exciting moment:
Since the PS2 and PSP versions are coming out at the same time you’re able to transfer data between each, you can even race other players online on the other version, no matter which console they’re playing on.

Since you ask:
Although little is known about the PS3 version of the game so far Sony has demonstrated a way to connect the PSP to it and use the portable console as a fully interactive wing mirror – displaying exactly what is going on behind you in full 3D.

The bottom line:
The PS2 and PSP are in pole position for this welcome racing update.

if you’re the type of person who likes realistic racing games then this is probably the game for you. The mechanics of the game, the graphics everything combines and makes it feel almost real. you have to be very careful at what kind of speeds you go around corners as that is where the race is won or lost. you get to control your own pit stop crew aas well and can choose when to make a pit stop. i have to admit im not a particularly big F1 fan and i only really get racing games for 2 player, which is why i wont be keeping it. personally i enjoy games like need for speed, midnight club etc. but if you’re after something that has an element of realism to it and someting which can be pretty addictive then this is the game for you. theres 2 main drawbacks to the game 1) it feel pretty dated not in its gameplay but in that some of the drivers are still are still with their old teams (e.g. alonso at renault etc). 2) still havent figured out how to get into 2 player.

Well when i first got need for speed for the PS3 i was amazied by the graphics really impressive and was nice to look at but when you get put on the track its a whole different story for a start it feels really slow and i know you think well its the start of the game you start with a slow car but no i hav worked my way up i own the E92 M3 and got it up to about 550 BHP and the game still feels slow big let down. Also the turning i worked out like most people the only way you can take a corner is at about 20mph in the old need for speeds you would hammer into a corner and make it round side ways its ridiculous. Another thing is the damage me and my friend played some split screen and in the first lap i mashed up my car while he took it easy and the second lap we started the race, i was in a mashed up car and he was in one in mint condition and we raced exact same car same power everything and he was not getting away from me and i was not getting away from him the damage doesnt mean anything in this game which is ashame they could of made it affective. I also wish they kept need for speed on the streets i dont think its the type of game to be on track and no free roaming are you kidding me need for speed was known for the abitly to cruise around in your fully kitted out car i wish they made it a next gen game like need for speed underground 2 for the ps2 take example from that EA and make a better need for speed next year its to much like forza for the xbox 360. I recommend this game if u want to break stuff like a controller with frustration because you will go mad the cars are nice and everything but game play poor sorry truth hurts.

Now this game is behind Need For Speed Most Wanted for me as that was more of a free roam game and brilliant the way the cops were involved. This game is just all about picking a race and doing it to get a record and money which you need to upgrade your cars performance otherwise you arent going to be moving to different zones. This game is more based on actual track races on proper tracks and not the main street of a major city where other public cars not as good as you are based which get in the way but i kinda miss those. The only thing really wrong with this game is the fact that the cars are called blueprints! WTF! i didnt get it at the start but now i get it and i find oit really good. but still blueprint? I’ve given it 5 stars because i can’t think of something that I don’t like about it. This is the easiest way for someone who doesn’t know how to use a controller, to watch dvds/bluray on the ps3‘>ps3. It’s an original Sony Product so quality assured. It’s got every button that the controller has even R3& L3 should you ever need them, plus its got its dvd/bd command buttons.

My dads been watching series after series of Dallas recently and they are slightly scratched so skip on our normal dvd players, but work perfectly on the ps3‘>ps3. Now that he has the remote its easy for him to watch his dvds on it without having to get out of his lying on the sofa position because theres no pointing required (bluetooth radio signals). he can even press eject on the remote to see where the next cd needs to go!

A real necessity for true ps3‘>ps3 accessory collectors also.

Customer Review: Essential gear for the none gamer.
If gaming is your scene, and playing around with the supplied games contoller is second nature to you, then this remote control will probably be way down your ‘must have’ list.

If, however, you are like me and bought the PS3 more for playing Blu-ray and up-scaled DVDs than for the games, then having this piece of kit is just about a no-brainer. The non gamers ‘must have’.

I bet, though, that like me you will continue to point it at the Playstation even with it being Bluetooth and not I/R !!

Assassin’s Creed (PS3)
It’s easy to see why there was so much fighting amongst the console manufacturers to try and make this game a format exclusive. Where early launch titles may have disappointed this game not only looks like a next generation game but it plays like it too. Taken at face value the story casts you as an Arabic fighter in 1191, out to assassinate the nine Western leaders of the Third Crusade. There is more to the story than that though making it more than simple historical adventure it first seems.

Since it’s developed by many of the same team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, it’s no surprise to find the game using many of the same ideas. With the bold claim that you can climb on or over anything in the game world that sticks out more than two inches, this allows incredible freedom of movement, with a style of acrobatics heavily influenced by Parkour/free running. The game also innovates in terms of combat, with each of the face buttons controlling a different area of the body, rather like a marionette. As such one button controls the feet, one your open hand, one your weapon hand and the other your head.

As an assassin stealth plays an important role in the game too, but here it’s often a case of hiding in plain sight as you mill around inside large crowds of people. Everyone will react to you realistically though, so if you go around pushing people out of the way, or even killing them, the crowd will react and report you. With stunning graphics and genuinely innovative gameplay this is destined to be one of the most important releases of the year.

Customer Review: Over-hyped, but worth playing.
Needless to say this game is very repetitive compared to those of similiar genre. Climb up a view point, complete 2-3 missions and assassinate the target. Yeah, that is the concept of the game. The environment is very beautiful and well-detailed, however, and the world is very interactive. Unfortunately the game loses much of its potential, thanks to Ubisoft’s sloppy plot design. Moreover, the Xbox 360 version is better. It may have a slightly lower framerate, but there are no vsync issues (screen tearing, whereas PS3 version suffers from this issue, a lot. If you don’t mind playing the most repetitive game out there for PS3, go ahead and buy it.

Avoid at all costs… Seriously, it’s repetition city. If the games producer spent more quality time on the game instead of promoting herself we might have had something to shout about. Save your money for Drake Uncharted.

Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)
In the end it will probably be to the benefit of European gamers that the PS3 was delayed, since it will give Sony the chance to put together a much more impressive line-up of launch games than greeted the console in America and Japan. Resistance was easily the best of the U.S. launch games - a first person shoot `em-up from the creators of Ratchet & Clank. The game’s story is based around an alternate version of World War II where instead of Nazis you’re facing off against the insect-like Chimera in a war torn Britain (naturally you’re playing an American though). It’s basically Call Of Duty meets Doom.

The game doesn’t use the tilt sensors of the Sixaxis controller for movement but it does demonstrate the improved build quality of the analogue sticks, which previously made first person shooters difficult on the PS2. The tilt sensors are used in a variety of secondary roles though, such as when you have to shake off a monster or if you get set on fire. Despite the faux WWII setting, most of the game’s weapons are fantastical and, as with Ratchet & Clank, are probably the highlight of the whole game. All have secondary fire modes, from grenade launchers to homing bullets. The armour piercing Auger for example, also doubles as a shield. There are also vehicle based sections, including a particularly fun ride in an almost indestructible tank.

Although the single player game is well above average, the criticism about the sometimes generic art and design are not entirely without foundation. Thankfully this is compensated by an excellent forty person online mode - a huge achievement for a launch game and a very good sign for future online PS3 games.

Customer Review: Surprisingly (For me) great
I’ve never played an fps before this, i’d tried but just never got the hang of the controls for some reason … BUT … due to the lack of very many ps3‘>ps3 games at the moment and me getting a bit bored of playing old ps2 titles on my ps3‘>ps3 I decided to give this one a blast … and what a blast it was. After quite a lot of attempts at the first level (Too many to count) I finally got the hang of the controls and got through it, as I gradually progressed through the game I found the controls coming naturally to me and enjoying the game even more. A lot of reviews i’ve read have said that this game can be infuriatingly hard at times and this is very true but this adds to the enjoyment of the game, when you finally get to the end of a particularly hard level or reach the nearest continue point there is a real sense of achievement even though probably half an hour earlier you were (Like me) throwing the controller down in a sulk and shouting to your girlfriend tnat this is impossible. Anyway just buy it and enjoy it as much as I did, even if you’re not very good at fps games this is the game to make you want to try more. I’ve asked my girlfriend to get me Call of duty 4 for christmas now and that’s down to this game being so enjoyable.

Theres nothing particularly original about the game but theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. It plays smoothly, doesn’t have any irritating bits and the levels develop enough to keep it exciting all the way through. I haven’t enjoyed a game this much since Super Mario Karts!
